HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-11-1989 GOLF MINUTES Y *� �ldwell Golf Board Meetin � � g Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held at City Hall on Oct.11,1989 at 8:00 a.m. Members Present: Council-Liaison Bob Jarboe, Rick Sweaney, Bob Sower Jim Guy,Laura Gamboa, Monte Gibson, Maude Sower Mayor Pete Cowles, Pros. John Watson & Troy Vitek Supt. Gordy Crockett and Lisa Thompson Finance Director. Members Absent: Ric Coles & Del Jones. Bob Jarboe explained the financial status of the fund raising and budget also he had Lisa get a copy of the lease. The outstanding amount of the loan plus interest is over $250,000- The idea is to pay the loan off as soon as possible with at least trying to raise $32,000 a year - thus making payments of $82,000, this way we could pay this off in three years instead of eight. � We have $46,000 in fund raising that the board wants applied on that now. Lisa mentioned that the Auditing Staff has been at city halll all week after the audit then we will have accurate figures. Bob Jarboe mentioned to Gordy that Teri Brandt had to see him to get the Golf Budget correct as he had to cut $26,000. Bob Jarboe mentioned he had talked to Harold Wiseman ,Chairman of Golf Board at Centennial Course about the idea discussed this spring by the Caldwell Board on reduced green fees for people at either course with a season pass- if Caldwell people went to Nampa they would pay $5.00 upon showing the pass, same with Nampa coming to Caldwell. Bob Sower made motion of reduction in fees agreeable to both courses seconded by Rick Sweaney, Motion carried. Laura brought up the incident of the Suggestion Box and apologized to Mayor Cowles for the actions of a certain party. Mayor Cowles thanked the Golf Board for all they have done. John Watson had cash for a season pass that John McCain had paid him but as the new tickets won't be ready until Dec.1 -John wanted to know what action to take -Lisa told him just run it thru now and see that McCain gets a ticket when ready. John reported that season tickets are down , Purple Sage is down $1,600 but Fairview is still hurt by Centennial( $3,894.00) John mentioned that Troy Vitek is a true asset to Caldwell and suggested that the city give Troy an increase to pay a person to collect green fees. Bob Jarboe along with Mayor Cowles would talk with Troy. Bob would also dicuss the parking ( Lot across from Fairview) with Council. John Watson said he would rather have new chairs for the downstairs,dining banquet room instead of the ball machine. Dr. Mac from Lincoln school called and wanted to know if it would be possible to use holes #7& 8 on Oct.28 for the run but that is the weekend of the Pneumonia Open, Troy would contact him and explain . Monte Gibson that Oct.21 would be the Beryle Morse Tournament with a shotgun start at 12:30-also $9,000 interest added this year ,$5.00 entry fee-Scramble '' ( 2 ) Troy Vitek thanked Joh�or his concern and welfar� Troy had the new cart storage stickers for 1990 - he would leave some at � City Hall so when payments are paid on carts they will be given stickers. Also the stickers will be put on the front of carts. Troy had some information from "Tee Off Time, Inc"Jim Guy was going to check on this and have more information at the November meeting. Gordy said they were filling trap on #15 and 5 they will be grass traps. Jim Guy made a motion to revamp #5 trap on the right side , seconded by Bob Sower, motion carried. Also carts going to a 90° angle, Jim would check into this at the courses in Denver and have the information at next meeting. Bob Sower brought up opening times at Purple Sage for the months of June thru August, early hours 6:00-6:30 a.m. John said he would get a schedule for entire year on sunrise and sunset as the policy is open at sunrise and close at sunset, have this at next meeting. Rick Sweaney brought up having signs with arrows as to where carts GO. Rick asked about the club cleaners that Del Jones was supposed to take care of and the signs to match the hanging signs . Rick was to get in touch with Del. Monte Gibson said the men would be having the scramble this Sunday. Also the Seniors would like to hold a State Seniors Tournament on a Wednesday this year at Purple Sage . He would finf out the date etc. This is for men & women. Maude and Laura would check with Steve Fouts on the bricks. With no further business meeting adjourned at 10:00 a,m, Respectfully submitted, � �...__.. � � ���t--�ti� L La,ra Gamboa,G airman Caldwell Golf Board 1 0-11 -89 Laura said she was sending an application to the Caldwell Community Foundation for a$5,000 grant to be used for more chairs, tables also picnic tables and Tire Rubber Matting for the entrance at Purple Sage. In previous years we have received $5,000- last year we received $2700.
