SAME THING ABOUT CART RENTALS:ARE YOU HAVING THEM SIGN SHEETS THEY ARE ESPONSIBLE, NOT CITY OR JOHN CALDWELL GOLF BOARD MEETING Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held February 9,1994 in City Hall at 8:00 a.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Llo d Nelsen, Bill Moad Vice-Chairman Mike Garman, y Shirley Akagi,Council-Liaison Jerry Langan. Representing the Ladies: Georgia Hersh; _ Representing the Men's : John Houston. Also in attendance John Watson, Lenny Stroup Gordy Crockett, Bill Schwinn & Jim Reames. MEMBERS ABSENT: Don Tolley & Kris Inouye. Vice-Chairman Mike Garman welcomed the three people that came to the meeting in regards to the ietter that had been received from the group the letter was "Golfers' Concerns and Ideas" For Maintenance & Improvement of Caldwell Golf Courses". The Board members did appreciate the ideas 'however most all the items listed have already been discussed and have been done ,some can't be done right now due to the expenses but all are in the Would try FAIRVIEW: Keep under pass clean, Gordy said they cleaner. Remove dead trees from drain ditch: They have to wait to get city truc so that will be taken care of as soon as possible. Board felt the mat on #7 is fine as is. Build a tee boxlan andaalsosmuchcbetterrfor�the J�.Golferslasdwellaasit will speed up p y new golfers. Mayors'Assistant Jim Reames asked if anyone on the Board had a V.C.R to use at Fairview and try to catch these young people that are doing the damage to the course. This way the Police could be able to help. Gordy was asked about the locks for the outdoor restrooms at Fairview. Bill Schwinn said that he had been checking into different locks but that they have a person that Iocks the restrooms at the Park at night that person could lock Fairview, but then i�': would be up �::� the crew ��nl��c:k �tY�m in the morning. Lenny could put signs up stating time of open and close for restrooms. Gordy is to check on a"S�iOKE EATER" for Purple Sage to put in the Card- Room. The Board voted in December9,1992 that the Ditch on #12 not be covere but it was to be kept free of Weeds and Tragh at all times• T le are of covering the ditch involved alot of thin s that these peop aware of . The Tee Boxes are moved Monday,Wednesday,Friday & Saturday at Purple Fairview is a different story people move Tee Boxes anywhere they want the crew puts them where they should be but thats as far as it goes. On opening of Purple Sage, this will be up to the Mayor,Council. Council-Liaison Jerry Langan said they are meeting next week with the Pro John Watson and see what can be done.Review Johns' contract etc. Since the big storm hit Monday John wanted to know if he should stay open, Bill Schwinn said it would be closed unt�l further notice. Page 2 ` BUDGET: This was the first time Board Members saw the Budget and they were very concerned at the $509,350 Budget. It sPems that several items were not explained and the Board feels this Budgetis out of line. Lloy� Nelsen said with a Budget Iike this it would be impossible to get a loan from a bank, Mike Garman had the same feelings. Lisa Thompson came up to the Board to try and explain it and said the banks don't need a budget. Council-Liaison Jerry Langan couidn't give any answers as this was done prior to his election. Bill Moad stated that in looking this over he couid not see a budget as is. Don Tolley and Mike Garman had looked at the budget on Monday and were very unhappy with it. Perhaps there will be more answers next month. page Mike Garnan said he had a request from the U.of I changing their annual tournament to Pur le Sa e so that the would be able to have more ' to raise funds. This wouid be held June 10,1994. players John said it was fine with him. Lenny asked if he could have a Seniors two day tournament to replace this as he oniy has about three big ones and with �his going to Purple it would hurt him. The Board felt that Lenny shouid try to get the Senior Tournamentand it would be great to have a two day event. The March meeting all tournaments will be discussed and dates set. John said he had a request from the "Christian Group that played two years ago in October paid �2000., Board granted this as this:is played on a week �ay and October is not so busy. Mike Garman said he would cail Gaylon Coates today and have him come March 1, to speak on the Sprinkler System, will be held at City Hall upstairs. Mike will have all. information in paper and will be posted at both courses so that everyone interested can come. The cost of his trip should be around �1400. Gordy was asked about the restrooms at Purple Sage, he said they would be done the 14th of February. Discussion on golf carts etc. more on this next meeting, rules etc. Attached a list of the things discussed at meetings for year of "93" Why are some still not done? Mike Garman,Vice Chairman Caldwell Golf Board Pro John Watson did state that he has always been willing to open whenever the course was ready ,but that he would like to say that he will be open the 15th of February with his full staff, unless he is told differently.
