HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-18-1993 GOLF MINUTES M ' CALDWELL GOLF BOARD MEETING Y Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held May 18,93- in the Council Room at 8:00 a.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Don Tolley, Lloyd Nelsen, Bill Moad, Shirley Akagi Community Services Director Bill Schwinn, Supt.Gordy Crockett Pros. Lenny Stroup and John Watson. Representing the two associations: Georgia Hersh & Ed I•:inyon Copies of the April meeting along with the agenda and golf receipts were handed to each member. COMMITTEE REPORT Bill Moad said that he had some complaints about having the greens punched just before the Men's Pro-Am. Bill asked if the Tee Boxes could be moved more often. Bill thought the people should be told if the greens are being worked on or if the Fairways are being punched etc, this should be done by �he staff at the pro-shop when people call for tee times. Chairman Don asked Go�dy to set a date for cleaning the cart sheds so that a letter can be sent to all cart owners. The date of June 2,93 was set. Bill Schwinn to take care of the letter. Bill Schwinn said the school had been contacted in regards to the closure of the openings on the fence by # 7 at Fairview. They are in favor of this and wili be taken care of at the end of the school year. Bill also stated that the Council Policy for driving golf carts is a drivers license,this should eliminate the problem of children driving carts. Bill was asked to make sure a letter was sent to the three sub-divisions at Purple Sage. ( Home Owners Assn) It is up to the Pros. to see that people are told that children are not allowed to drive the carts. Chairman Don asked Gordy to make sure that McGarvin & Idaho Concrete get the new Corporate Pass for this year and also to bring the bids to the ' next meeting on the jobs they are getting these passes for. Chairman Don asked Gordy if he had the signs for Motor Homes & Trailers as yet no, but Gordy said they are all parking the trailers behind the cart storage and that also the school buses are parking back there. Don said he had a check from West One in the amount of $250.00 for Course beautification. Don also stated that the Mayor was taking care of the Hurst Property. The city will make an offer of $60,000 no more and he would have to vacate in six months. Lloyd Nelsen said the Patio Cover would be done right away, he would contact them. Lloyd gave a very good report on the meeting with Galen Coates, who came from Arizona to see about the Sprinkling System at Purple. On attached sheet is what Mr. Coates quoted for the system. a , , pag�-2 � Bill Moad moved that we go ahead with the plans as presented by Mr. Coates seconded by Ed. Kinyon, motion carried. Bill Schwinn would recommend this to the Council on June 8, also he would have new photos of the course. John Watson had some requests for tournaments: Idaho Auto Auction-August 18 for about 120, this would be at 1:00 p.m. Board approved Tom Scott Motors Sept.26 in the afternoon about 120 players.Board approved John also had a letter from the Boise River Festival in regard to having a one shot ''Hole in One" on #8 for their fund raising. June 24-27. Board told John to go ahead with this. John also presented a letter to Chairman Don from Nancy Randall & Christy- Salmon, this was regarding fees. Chairman Don was going to take this to city attorney and let him answer it. Lennny Stroup said he had several meetings with the chairman of the Jr.Elks tournament and that all is going very well, Lenny has the flyers a�.l ready for the tournament to be held in June. Lenny said he has had registration for the Jr.programs and that tonite there would be another ,also Saturday by the Jr.Golf Committee. Lenny felt that the program is going very well and that communication has been very good this year. Lenny reported on the tournaments scheduled for June. June 11, Friday-1:00 Vandal Boosters: Course closed for about 5'- hours. Charlie Alvero Tournament: 7:30 a.m. June 12: June 19-Hawaiian Event(Art Doo) June 24= Men's Fun Nite; June 23 & 24 Jr. Elks Tournament: Lenny said he had an anonymous party that would like to sponsor a first class Jr.Tournament "Jr.Golf Classic" make it a very special tournament for ages 6-17 with all the special gifts etc.This would be held in late August could be one day or two day tournament. Lenny said the sponsor would go all out expense is no problem. Lenny said he had a party return 10 flags that he found in the house that he rented. Gordy said that the Budget is due the 14th of May.He and Bill Schwinn have been working on it, have included rubber surfacing for the ladies outdoor restrooms. This would be for both courses, also the men's restroom needs to have the Urinals replaced at Fairview. Lenny said he would be needing new score cards by the end of the season. The men's restroom at Purple Sage off #2 needs new fixtures. Gordy sa�id he had a bid on the roof for Fairview and also the siding. Chairman Don said the Board would like to see the Budget and approve it a meeting is set for Wednesday May 19 at Fairview at 10:30 a,m,then go to Purple from there to check on things. Shirley Akagi asked if it would be possible to have a drop area on #1 as some people have a hard time getting over the pond, also are they going to do anything with # 17 green. She was told the plans are to tear this up rebuild and ;���:to overseed .
