� CALDWELL GOLF BOARD MEETING
=
Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held October 20,1992 in the
Conference Room at City Hall at 8:00 a.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Don Tolley, Bill Moad, Mike Garman,Lloyd Nelsen
Shirley Akagi.
Representing the Ladies Association Edie Stuthiet.
Representing the Men's Association Ed Kinyon-New President.
Also in attendance Pro Lenny Stroup, Pro John Watson and Supt.Gordy Crockett.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Rris Inouye.
Copies of the September meeting along with the golf receipts and agenda
were handed to each member.
Chairman Don Tolley called on Gordy for his report. Gordy said the bill
on the trucks for sand was $303.00 and as yet has not received the bill
for the sand. He used 64 yds at $10.15 per yd. should be $649.60
Don reminded Gordy since he had to pay for the trucks that he would have
to have some one else for trucks as this is a conflict of interest since
Bill Moad is on the Golf Board.
Don also told Gordy to get in touch with Tom Ensley on the air conditioner
at Purple Sage. This is to be done before Purple Closes according to Tom,
Discussion on the covering of #12 at Purple ( Ditch) Gordy said the pipe
cost is $1.25 per foot. They would start behind #15 green across #11 tee
#12 Rough and #12 Fairway.
After much discussion it was decided to have Ed.Kinyon and Edie Stuthiet
talk to the members and also any Board members ask different people on
their views. This will be discussed in the November meeting.
Most Board members felt if they kept the weeds cut and_ ditch clean that _
it would be best to leave it as is.
Some felt that money could be used for sand traps.
Chairman Don asked Gordy to please remove the broken T.V. also to check
with Teri Ottens about the Insurance on this as this was one of the two
sets that Reed Taylor gave the city in exchange for a corporate pass.
Chairman Don asked about the Lattice Board that Charlie was to take to
Fairview last July. Charlie says its in his shop.
Don asked Gordy to please take care of getting a Flood Light at Fairview.
John Watson said he is waiting to get the report on the rating of the
Ladies tees that he has the men's and that it only takes about six weeks
to get the cards. �
John said he was very pleased with the Janitoraal":Services� that-if he
asks them to clean something they are very good about it.
Don asked about the Byrle Morse Tournament and John said they only had
8 couples.
Don said he would talk to Jim Guy as he is a very close friend of Byrle
Morse and perhaps for next year really plan a good tournament with alot
more publicity.Lots of time to plan this.
� on asked Mike Garman if he would get with Kris Inouye and plan a golf
ournament and dinner for the sponsors of the tee boxes etc.
,.Lenny Stroup said he is building a golf repair shop at his home so that
when he completes it then he can do away with the repair shop at Fairview.
This way he will be able to open that space and provide alot more space
' in the clubhouse as it had been before.
Don thanked both John and Lenny on collecting Trail Fees. John said
Lenny was responsible for this great increase. Thanks Lenny:
Lenny said he had several cart spaces available for rent, so in the
December advertising with fees this will be included that there is
space at Fairview.
John said he had no vacant spaces.
These are some of the things discussed for future plans.
Rules for the use of the Patio , trash etc. rules to be given to John
h� will make sign when ready with all details,
Bill, Don Gordy and John Schriener to get at Fairview to see what Tee
Boxes can be enlarged or what can be done such as # 5, 6,9 & 1
Also Lenny to get with this group.
Bill Moad asked if we could have a monthly report on number of Rounds
played at both courses. Don said that would be no problem.
Bill asked about fees for next year.
Other courses will be checked to see what they are doing and all of
this will be at the November meeting.
Bill said he has a book from one of the clubs that has all the events
listed for the year and it would be nice to have this for people.
Edie said the Ladies always have a book with all their events.
Don asked the Board about Thanksgi��ing and all members agreed that the
clubhouses should be closed.
Don said there will be more discussion on "Long Range Planning" at the
next meeting as we should have a report on our final budget after the
audit.
With no further business meeting adjourned at 9:00 a.m.
Next meeti.ng will be November 17, at City Hall. 8:00 a.m.
