CALDWELL GOLF BOARD MEETING
Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held February 12,1992 at 8:00 a.m.
in the Conference Room at City Hall.
Members Present: Mike Garman, Lloyd Nelsen, Kris Inouye, Bill Moad
Don Tolley,Shirley Akagi-Dan Ozuna-Council-Liaison.
Edie Stuthiet: Representing the Ladies Association.
Craig Beukelman:Representing the Ladies Association.
In attendance were Gordy Crockett, Lenny Stroup & John Watson.
Copies of the January 8-92 meeting along with the Revenue Status Report
were handed to each member, also a report on the clubhouse debt.
Chairman Don welcomed Lenny Stroup, the new pro at Fairview.Don also
thanked the committee ,Bill Moad, Lloyd Nelsen and John Watson in making
a very good selection.
Lenny stated he was delighted to be back in Idaho and hoped he could
fill Troy's shoes as Troy did such a great job for the City of Caldwell.
Chairman Don mentioned the Trail Fees that the Pros, get half of the
fee, so this way they make sure everyone bringing a cart pays by the
year or by the day, they are to make sure they have stickers if paid by
the year.
Larry Jordan was asked to attend the meeting to give a report on the
clubhouse at Fairview.
The long range improvement plan: Roof on clubhouse must be taken care.
In order to do the siding and roof it would cost about $30,000.
If you were planning a new clubhouse that would be around $120,000
where it is now if moved elsewhere itwould be about $50,000 more.
Cart Storage roof $1500. Have to think of parking in the future.
Sprinkler System Electronic Heads instead of Hydraulic .
Golf cart expanding storage.
Gordy stated there was $27,000 in budget for cart storage this year.
Don appointed Mike and Shir].ey to work with Larry and Gordy on the
roof and cart shed.
Don introduced Dan Ozuna to board members and thanked him for coming
to the meeting.
Bill Moad gave his report on the new tee boxes. Bill and his committee
met with Gordy . To sod all the new tees it would cost about $11,000.
About $4,000 for R.R.Ties.
After a very long discussion it was decided to sod all of them.if we get
2nough sponsors to cover rnost of the cost.
Mike Garman suggested contacting different firms for donations,it was
decided to ask at least for $1,000.
Don appointed Mike & Kris on this committee. Kris suggested that they
let the sponsor pick out the hole, Kris said he would sponsor #10.
He thought it would be nice to make it like a contest to see who has
the best looking tee box etc.
Mike said he would check on the price of R.R.Ties at D&B.

Don felt with the Fund Raising planned in the near future we should be
able to pay for the R.R.Ties.
Bill Moad said that a date is not set as of now, his committee is
Shirley, Laura, Edie, Craig, Bill .
A date will be set at the March meeting.
Craig said the men's association will donate $500. a year for course
improvements.
What they would like done on #1 by the lakes is put R.R.Ties, this will
really make it look nice.
Don brought up that Mayor Dakan would like to see flowers planted on
#2 & 8 by the pond.
After some discussion it was decided that people would be walking on
the flowers etc. so will think of something to do with this idea.
Don reported on the new benches that will be at Fairview, also the signs.
Lenny gave a report on the planned events at Fairview for the time.
February 25=Mixer- April 30 Men's Fun Night. May 5-Ladies Spring Fling.
May 1&2 2 man scramble: May 9-Cinco De Mayo Scramble.
Lenny said he bought the existing fountain inventory from Troy.Lenny
said he had 170 golfers saturday and 190 sunday,that he has been busy.
Lenny said he would be needing some new scorecards, get with Gordy on
what has to be done at Fairview.
Lenny asked about the support posts if he could drill holes to display
bags, the other for putter display .
In the kitchen area he would like to remove the one sink as there are
two there and he could move his refr?�rator back there.,.
He said sometime he would like to remove the added room that Troy
built this would open up the clubhouse and have more room.
He and Gordy have been checking this out.
Lenny presented The Gold Card Program that the salesman left him,board
can look into this and decide if they want it.
Free Golf discussed that no Fountain Help gets free golf. No part time
help gets free golf.Lenny said Lyle Gunderson only wants to work about
two days a week and only about four hours each time and hP was not sure
if he would hire Lyle. But the board said he would not be entitled to
free golf.No one working for John part time is entitled to free golf.
Gordy said the signs for chemicals has been ordered. The mat at Fairview
on #7 will be installed the middle of March.
John said he would have a report on tournaments next month.Also that the
Idaho Open has been changed to Jackpot as they can get more sponsors with
money to back the tournament.
Discussion on the money due from the cart storage from Jim McGarvin,
It was decided that Jim should be asked to attend the next meeting to see
what is the best way to handle his cart storage.
Also Jim has to finish his work at Fairview on the shelter as promised.
John & Lenny were asked to start charging the $1.00 increase in green
fees the 15th of February. $1.00 increase for 9 holes and 1.00 for 18.
Gordy was asked to put up a Bulletin Board at Purple for messages for
John & Gordy etc.
Don said he would like to have a get together with Men's & Ladies, _

also the board members and anyone else interested in giving ideas or
complaints. Don said it would be nice to have a keg of beer and have a
discussion. ( Don said he would furnish the beer)
There are three payments left on the building, balance is $132,342.79
Steve Fouts has the plaques at the shop and is working on the names
should have them when Purple opens.
A letter was written asking for the cr�diton Jean Baldings ticket
as this was voted on in December.
Lloyd totd Gordy tha� }�e was at Purple yesterday walking around and that
he has never seen the course look so good.
Shirley said the tee boxes look great she was very pleased with them.
Mike asked Gordy if he had any word on the Irrigation, Gordy said he
no.
John had a request from Intermountain Gas Co for a tournament on June 13
this is on a saturday about 72 players all green fees.
Edie said the American Legion of Parma & Chamber of Commerce want to
hold a tournament , she was asked to get the information and then get
with John, this would be green fees.
Kris asked if the clubhouse was able to take care of handicap people
Gordy said yes there are ramps etc.
It was decided that the sponsors names could be on a plaque on the R.R.
ties for the different holes.
Bill asked Gordy if he could try some of the bunker sand maybe on
#9-18-7 traps.
Gordy said what they had at Broadmore was terrible.
Bill was asked to take some samples to Gordy .
With no further business meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
