HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-13-1991 GOLF MINUTES , - CALDWELL GOLF BOARD MEETING I Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held November 13,91 at �:00 a.m at City Hall. Members Present: Don Tolley, Bob Sower, Jim Guy, Laura Gamboa. Representing the Ladies Association Edie Stuthiet: Representing the Men's Association Craig Beukelman: Pro. John Watson, Pro. Troy Vitek,Supt.Gordy Crockett: Members Absent: Kris Inouye. Copies of the October meeting were handed to each member. Two representatives from the schools were present, as a letter had been mailed to the Superintendent in regards to the Cross Country Races held at Fairview. Board members all felt that with a clear understanding there would be no problem allowing the cross country. The board was informed that there is to be only one race a year and every seven years there is a District Meet. Don Tolley made a motion that September 8,1992, be allowed for cross- country meet with Caldwell High and Vallivue, seconded by Jim Guy,motion carried. The meet is to start at the clubhouse instead of #4: Also the coach will get together with Troy and John the greenskeeper at Fairview: Troy will get a notice posted several days before the meet as to the hours the course will be closed: The budget was discussed for 91-92( $512,541.00) this is about $50,000 more then last year. Laura gave a report on just the green fees that she and Maude had checked for the period of September,1990 thru Sept.1991. Fairview: 14,412 Rounds Purple Sage: 9 holes-3,340: 18 holes- 17,712 Don Tolley made a motion to increase the green fees at both courses: $1.00 at Fairview for 9 holes: $1.00 for 18 holes: $1.00 at Purple for 9 holes:= $1.00 for 18 holes: Seconded by Bob Sower, motion carried. The board felt with this increase the budget could be met. Laura reminded the board that the two clubhouses are closed for Thanksgiving Also that Purple Sage will be closed as of December 1. Gordy said the Black Canyon Irrigation should be able to let him know when they will start to cover the ditch on #12. Gordy said they would replace the bridge on #9 this Fall or early spring. Gordy said as soon as the city crews can they will bring in the dirt for the new tees. Gordy was reminded to be sure and cover the new signs at Purple as soon as the course is closed. There was quite a discussion on the new Janitorial Services it seems they have not been doing a good job at Purple. Gordy said he had talked with them and pointed out what needs to be done. Also the carpet at Purple needs to be cleaned more often at least every three months.( Gordy to check into this) � ' Don Tolley suggested that Gordy should hire just one person to take care of the restrooms on the course, clean the outside steps daily, just a � handy man to do the cart storage, empty trash cans etc. This way Gordys crew can work on the course. Gordy said he would get someone to do these things. Don and Laura are still trying to get the roof and clubhouse taken care of at Fairview and hope to have some information by next meeting. The fence was put up behind #2 thanks to Helen Pasley and Jean Balding. John has cut some of the trees at Fairview. Troy said that someone had driven on Fairview Saturday night also that 27 flags have been stolen this year. Troy said he had ordered the 92 cart stickers. John Watson had a letter from the American Lung Association in regards to a golf card. It is a one time offer per course for $20.00. It amounts to holder of card donate a round of 18 holes playing with one other person during a week-day. Don suggested that John and Troy could try it and see what the response is. Advertising was discussed and it was decided that it would b�best to have some advertising in the Tribune for Christmas as people do give season tickets as gifts. Laura will take care of this. Craig said he had nothing to report from the men's association. Edie said the ladies association had purchased 10 tables for $377.97 126 chairs for $1653.75= she was asked by the ladies to see if the city would pay for this. She was reminded that before anything is bought that it should be presented to the board if they want payment. She was also reminded that 2/3 of bench money is to go into the course or clubhouse She was told that she should contact the men's association as they use the tables and chairs more then the ladies.
