. MAY 8,1991
Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held May 8,91-at City Hall at
8:00 a.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Tolley, Rick Sweaney, Jim Guy, Laura Gamboa:
Bill Moad= Representing Men's Association
Shirley Akagi=Representing Ladies Association
Pro. John Watson, Pro Troy Vitek, Supt.Gordy Crockett.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Kris Inouye ( Ill) Bob Sower ( I11)
Jim McGarvin appeared before the Board with plans on the Shelter at
Fairview and the estimated cost. Estimated cost would be about $6,356.
We have $2500. grant for this balance $3,856.
Jim said he would accept Season Pass for he and his wife for seven years
also cart storage for seven years. This figure didn't include striping sod
or painting.
Board thanked Jim and would get in touch with him .
Gordy Crockett felt if we could get Council approval it would be best to
take out balance from Contingency and pay Jim off, that is if we decided
to go with Jim.
Teri Ottens was asked to come to the meeting to explain the Budget and how
it works.
Teri explained that there is $65,000 in bank starting the year, 394,000 in
receipts. $460,000 to work with could have $500,000 this would be $100,000
over.
Teri explained that perhaps the Council would approve Capitol Improvement
Lease Purchase on equipment , only problem we have to pay interest on it.
Bill Moad asked Teri about a long term project that can get 6.2$, if she
could get some figures for it.
Teri said early next week she will get it to Laura.
Rick Sweaney asked what increase there is over last year at this time,
Laura said last year $134,561 we are now $21,000 over this.
Teri said she and Gordy haven't had a chance to talk about the Budget but
they will get together this week.
The Council will review the Budget in June we have until June 15th.
The Board thanked Teri for her help.
Bill Moad gave Laura the $500.00 check from the Men's Association to go
towards the R.R.Ties on the new Tee Box.
Gordy said we probably will have to cut some things from the Budget.
Don Tolley suggested that Gordy talk to Teri about Budget and thought Bill's
idea of a long term would be fine.
Don Tolley made motion , long term lease purchase and have Gordy submit
Budget at $508,000 provided he can get lease.
Jim Guy seconded , motion carried.

Bill Moad said he would like to see everything done.
- �aura asked Gordy if he and Teri could get this all taken care of so if
a Special Meeting should be necessary we could have one before June 12.
� Don Tolley said if we don't get the Siding taken care of at Fairview
we won't have a clubhouse.
Gordy said the Handiman was supposed to take care of this right away.
Don also felt with the Shelter to built where we plan would make people
park on Kimball.
Jim Guy said he knew that a certain party living across the street from
the clubhouse are against a parking lot where the old houses are.
Don said that Gordys crew at Fairview can do alot of little things around
the clubhouse to improve the looks of the course.
Troy Vitek will take care of getting the rubber mat for #7 tee box.
John Watson said he will pick up his sign for the golf cart rules today.
Also the sign for the Driving Range for Fairview should be in today.
Bill Moad said in three years when the Clubhouse is paid off we could
raise fees then and take all the heat at one time.
John Watson said it would be nice if we could tie up the land across the
street for future use.
Bill Moad said he would get his crew and that they would paint the old
Scoreboard at Purple Sage.
Bill Moad had a question about one of the MARSHALS at Purple Sage why is
Marshal going up and down the road , why isn't he on the golf course.
Board members felt he must be looking for balls instead of working as he
should be.
John to check on this . Bill said he knew two of the Marshals so it had
to be the other one.
Bill asked Laura about the Janitorial Services and Laura said that the
contract Georgia has is with the City and now they are going on a monthly
basis thru September. The City is still trying to get one company to do
all of the city facilities.
Rick Sweaney asked Gordy if he would get some estimated costs for covering
the Patio at Purple Sage.
There was a long discussion of future improvements on the golf course
Bill Moad suggested that we budget $50,000 for tee boxes next year, have
_ plan and carry forward each year.
� Don Tolley suggested putting up ropes where people continue to drive
� their carts, etc.
� Gordy said it would be wise to hire a golf course Architect when they
�� plan to do any big projects on the course.
Rick asked if the weeds along the road could be sprayed.
Shirley Akagi mentioned that the Ladies bought two Coolers last year
• She was told that the Board voted against putting those up last year
for H'ealth reasons also that it would take one person to clean them
put them up and also take them in every night.
� That was the reason a fountain was being put up by the restrooms on
number 8 & 6 .
The ladies were told they could put them out for their tournaments o�
what they wanted on a bench, etc.
The discussion about children under six on golf course, they aren"t
supposed to be on the course,
John said he has told people that under no condition is that child
allowed out of a golf cart.
Jim Guy mentioned that by the outdoor restrooms at Fairview the water
sits infront of the doors and asked Gordy if John and his crew could
put some asphaalt or something.
Don Tolley asked about the grease can by the clubhouse at Fairview.
Gordy said it would be put on a concrete slab with a post to chain can to.
John said he had ordered the scorecards yesterday. Gordy didn't feel that
we should have to pay over $500. for temporary cards.
Gordy said they had started the cart paths Monday and had done 13,14 & 15.
Laura suggested that we have a big sign with Art Solis etc. about the
cart paths.
With no further business meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
Next meeting to be held at City Hall- June 12, 8:00 a.m.
