HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-13-1991 GOLF MINUTES �' Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held at City Hall March 13,1991 at 8:00 a.m. Members Present: Kris Inouye, Bob Sower, Rick Sweaney,Don Tolley Jim Guy, Laura Gamboa, Pro John Watson,Pro Troy- Vitek,Supt. Gordy Crockett. Representing Men's & Ladies Associations were Bill Moad and Shirley Akagi. Also in attendance were Jim McGarvin and Gene Enebo. Minutes of the two Special Meetings along with Golf Receipts were handed to each member. Jim McGarvin gave a report on the new cart storage along with the 12 names, 11 had already paid him . Jim said he still had 12 openings. The Board explained to Jim that a letter would be sent to all people that were moving out of the old sheds, explaining the amount due for three months of storage and if they had paidpthe amount of the refund. Letters attached to these minutes. � Jim stated that the first shed billing should start in 1995. Second shed billing start in 1997. Jim said he had a few people interested in cart storage at Fairview Laura said the plans are to add on at Fairview in "92" for about 8. That right now we don't have anyplace to build storage or a ramp so at a later date we could try to come up with something. Maybe in June we should have an idea as to the number of people waiting for space. Gene Enebo had the plans for the add on shelter at Fairview, after some discussion Jim Said he would figure the cost and would get back with us to see what could be worked out. Don Tolley asked if black topping could be done by the new sheds about 10 ft. if this could be done when they do the cart paths. Gordy would dicuss this with Art Solis. Kris Inouye thought it would be nice to have the front of the sheds chain linked. Kris was also concerned about the parking problem when there are three sheds, Don Tolley said that Motor Homes with trailers take up alot of room that we should mark off spaces. Gene Enebo said there are a couple of things to look at but will wait until the project is nearly completed. Don Tolley asked if we had a list of the people that are in the first cart storage, Laura said she had a list and would have a copy for all at the next meeting. Troy Vitek asked who gives out the new stickers to the people in the new cart sheds, that it would be best if Jim gave them as he has all the names. Cart Storage list to be obtained from Lisa, Laura will have copies for John and Troy. , , Gene Enebo discussed the plans with the Board on the Shelter for Fairview. It was decided that a Flood Light will be needed. Tom had worked up an estimated cost between $1.800. &$ 2,5000. without a Barbecue. Gene said at some point we could pour more cement about 20-25 ft for the Barbecue. Laura and Troy both said it should all be figured now and get it done all at one time. Laura asked if they would cement the tables in and Gordy said if we got some like at the park, they would be heavy. Shirley Akagi said that we would need at least two and how much would they cost. Gordy said they would cost about $110.00. John Watson asked Gene if he could give us any news on the cart paths. Gene said Art Solis runs a different schedule. He had spoken with him yesterday, he thought about the first of April. Laura asked asked Gene to meet with Art and see if he would meet with members of the Board for a special meeting, John said it is very important to know how we stand as there are cards to be ordered, also signs etc. Laura reported on the advertising on the radio that Sam had called her about: K.C.I.D. 45 = 20 second commercials for two weeks A.M.=F.M. Cost $382.50, she told him go�ahead as there was some money left for advertising, Gordy said the Budget had to be in the middle of April so all members write down what they think is needed and bring to next meeting. Gordy said he and John have talked about three sets of tees. Plan on enlarging tees 20 yds. Put in enough money in budget for next Spring. Bill Moad said the Men's Association will give $500. for course improvements. Bill thought the railroad ties would help on the new #1 Tee Box, Bill and Gordy will get together on this project. Gordy said he would try putting some Sod on the banks of the pond on number 11 & 8, see if it will take.There was a very long discussion on this and what to do about that soil. Gordy said he would sod #1 also Ladies #17 tee boxes. Laura thanked Gordy for painting the barrels on the patio, she also took a collection from all members to buy flowers for the barrels. Thank you all came to 70.00 Rick Sweaney asked about the ditch on #3. Gordy said he was waiting on Black Canyon . Gordy was asked to please get with them so that we can be on the schedule or whatever it takes to get this taken care of. Gordy said the Patio extension will be done Saturday March 23, 1991. Idaho Concrete will do it. Don Tolley asked if we could get some oil from the city when the cart shed is done . Rick Sweaney said they won't let you use oil now. ' Don asked if we could get a drive way to come in front of roadway. � � _ John said he had two requests for tournaments: Simplot wanted 45-60 on Saturday afternoon in May or June. Idaho Power July 20- 80-100 players, About 7:30 a.m. There was a very long discussion about tournaments. Bill Moad made a motion that No New Tournaments be approved from April 1- thru September on Saturday or Sunday Mornings at Purple Sage: Seconded by Jim Guy, motion carried, It was decided that the Pros can use their discretion on tournaments. Shirley Akagi asked if the Men's and Ladies could try to have a Couples Tournament on a Saturday and Sunday perhaps in September. She was told to go aheac�and see what they can do John said the Caldwell Parks & Recreation want to hold a Night Light Tournament July 20, about 90 players, start after dark. This was fine. John said he gave the Middleton Boosters 4 green fees and cart for Charity, same with Troy.= John said he gave 4 green fees & cart for Grad Nite: Troy would give the Jr. Pass to be auctioned off. John Presented a letter from George Crookham ,letter attached. Board voted no-same on Claude Sperlin: Letter attached. Letter attached for the Elks with our new policy. John said the Idaho Open is not a part of the Men's association that he thinks he can at least get $500. Troy said he talked with the people from the Scorecards and that they will start printing today -March 13, He said he would bring a card to the next meeting. John said he will have to have new cards when the cart paths are done. Laura asked Gordy what day he could meet with the Board Members and go over Fairview Course. Troy to have a list of what he would like done. Thursday March 21 at 2:00 P.M. for members wanting to go along. The fee of $16.67 will be charged to people in cart storage until they move to new shed. January, February and March.
