NOV.14,1990
Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held at City Hall at 8:00 a.m.
November 14,1990.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
`Council-Liaison Bob Jarboe, Bob Sower, Rick Sweaney
Jim Guy, Ric Coles, Kris InouyP,Laura Gamboa
Supt. Gordy Crockett, Pro John Watson, Pro Troy Vitek.
Representing the Ladies Association:Shirley Akagi
Lisa Thompson gave a report on the clubhouse payment and said that by
the next meeting she should have some figures to show how much could be
saved by paying early.
Lisa, Bob Jarboe and Laura went over the fees two weeks ago ,going on the
20 increase discussed last June.
Each member was given a copy of the fees along with what Centennial was
going to charge for 1991. Laura had contacted Harold Wiseman and he gave
her the planned fees that were going to be voted on this morning.
The Board decided that they had to take action on the 75 and over, as
there are no golf courses that have two rates for over 65 and that more
are getting in this rate, they feel alot of complaints will come in but
this has been something the Board has been wanting to do.
Attached is a copy of the rates and green fees, cart storage, etc.
There was alot of dicussion on just 18 holes at Purple Sage but decided
that it would be best to have a 9 hole fee for week days but weekends and
holidays it would be just 18 holes .
Troy Vitek felt that Fairview would have to have 9 holes at all times.
This is a 9 hole course and the Board decided that Fairview should remain
the same as last year.
The Board voted on all the increases, as there are several projects that
need to be done, with the approval of the City Council.
Rick Sweaney thought it might be a good idea to have a letter sent to all
golfers as to why the increase.
Laura, thanked John and Troy for a great year also Gordy and his crew.
John and Troy were reminded to get cart list to Lisa by Dec.10th so
the bills will be sent in December.
Troy said he would order the 1991 cart stickers.
The Board voted to have Purple Sage closed for the months of Dec, January
if weather permitting John would open sometime in February.
This motion also stated that the Clubhouse would be closed.
John Watson reported that we had a great year and it looks like we could
have another great year.
John and Troy would like to see that both Fairview and Purple Sage are in
the white and yellow pages of the phone directory.
John had a request from Leonard Goodell they bought a season pass but only
used it once due to illness, the board felt that they could pay the
difference of the increase and use it next year.
I
John and Gordy had discussed changing the back nine to the front nine as
' it was when the course opened
, They thought cut one tree on #10 and extend the men's tee box back.
John also said this would give him much better control of getting the
people started.
The board all voted in favor of this. Sometime in the near future they
would like to improve # 9, which will be #18 .
Gordy said that the cart paths on the back will be done by the time the
course opens up.,this spring.
Troy said he is still trying to get someone to clean Fairview, Troy and
Gordy will work on this.
Gordy will see about getting an outside flood light at Fairview by the
putting green.
Rick Sweaney said this next year that as chairman of the Purple Sage
committee he will see that a better job is done and keep things more tidy
around the clubhouse.
Laura mentioned that the fence along #3 needs to be taken care of also
the chain link fence by the clubhouse where someone has run into, but felt
that after the first of the year all board members can look both courses
over and see what should be done.
Shirley Akagi asked what the board does, she was told that the board sets
all fees and everything that is done at both courses and clubhouses has to
be approved with the board as they are an advisory board then it goes to
the council for approval.
Jim Guy asked Gordy about some of the old dead trees at Purple Gordy said
they will be cut down this winter.
Board said that as in previous years that the clubhouses would be closed
on Thanksgigng
Gordy said that the ditch company will be out today to see about closing
the ditch on #3.
Gordy said he had talked with Len Proctor on the fans for the clubhouse
they will be expensive.52" blade each one runs seperate.
Gordy said the patio will be done this spring, Idaho Concrete will do it.
Gordy suggested that since the city has two houses by the park this would
be a great place to build a cart storage and a loading ramp, more discussion
on this next meeting.
With no further business meeting adjourned at 10:00 a,m,
Next meeting to be Dec.l2th.
