HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-10-1990 GOLF MINUTES CALDWELL GOLF BOARD MEETING Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held at City Hall on January 10-90 at 8:00 a.m. Members Present: Mayor Jim Dakan, Council-Liaison Bob Jarboe, Rick Sweaney Bob Sower, Ric Coles, Jim Guy, Laura Gamboa,Bonnie Elgin Supt. Gordy Crockett, Pro John Watson and Pro Troy Vitek. r�embers Absent: Del Jones. Minutes of the Dec 13,89 meeting along with the golf receipts of December were handed to each member. Gene Enebo, said that Teri Brandt, has been in contact with the attorneys in regard to the Alarm System at Purple Sage, since there seems to be other bills that haven't been paid, he hoped it would be taken care of soon. Gene also gave a report regarding the sidewalk at Fairview in front of Dick Hurst's property. Gene had an estimate of $1000-$1200. Gene said that Hurst would be responsible for over $700. and the City for $300. Mayor Dakan said he would talk to Dick Hurst and see if he could get him to pay most of it. Gordy Crockett said he had just returned from vacation and didn't have any information from Black Canyon about the ditch on #3. Gordy said that the material will cost about $2500.,said he would get with them today. Gordy said the plans are to remove all curbing and do landscaping at Purple Sage. Laura asked Rick Sweaney and Ric Coles to get with Gordy and plan the ; landscaping and bring before the board on our February 14,meeting. Discussion on green fees: Board members all felt that an increase in green fees would be appropiate at this time. Ric Coles made a motion to increase =9 holes to $7.00 and 18 holes to $10.00 at 'Purple Sage. Fairview to $8.00 for 18 holes leave 9 holes as is. Bob Sower seconded the motion , motion carried. Mayor Dakan said that the Golf Board will be his representative and he will depend upon them. The board is t� have the control of making decisions etc of what is to be done at both courses. Mayor Dakan asked why Purple Sage was closed- no one really had an answer Pro John Watson said that there really isn't very much play after October so its really better to have just one open- but this will be discussed at a later date. Mayor Dakan asked John when his contract expired- John said 1993. Mayor Dakan said that the Nampa Course is working well with the lease prg�ram so maybe in the near future Caldwell will be considering this route. Jim asked about upgrading a Fairway a year. Gordy said the problem is the sprinklers are laid so it would be very difficult to dig . Laura presented Bob Jarboe with a$1500. check from the Caldwell Community this is to be used for matting in front of the two double doors by the counter. Bob Jarboe was to talk to Bill Gigray and show him the matting also if it would be O.K, to buy chairs for the downstairs with the remainder of the money. `� ' ( 2) There was quite a discussion on the cart storage sheds again ,the board feels that something has to be done about the bird situation and keep the sheds much cleaner. There was talk about placing screens on the rafters, the Purple Sage committee is to have a report on this for the February meeting. Gordy said the cart sheds will be painted this spring. Laura asked Gordy if he couldn't hire Willy Cram to take care of the cart sheds= ( O.K, by Gordy) Gordy said he would check the outdoor toilets at Purple Sage and see if they needed repairs. Also that the carpet at Fairview will be cleaned the first unplayable day , as it will have to be closed for a day. Lyle Gunderson had asked to be full time Marshal, John said he would have a sign up sheet at Fairview for people to si n for the Troy Vitek needs a Marshal for Fairview so anyoneginterestedJcouldlsign at Fairview. Sheets will be posted at both courses. ; Del Jones will have to be replaced as a board member due to the fact that he will be working thru April. Board members all wanted to have Kris Inouye fill in for the remainder of Del's term which is up on December 31-1990. Mayor Dakan would present Kris's name to the Council on Monday the 15th. Motion made by Bob Sower, Seconded by Rick Sweaney , motion carried. Mayor Dakan feels that there should be no free golf ,this would include City employees, he said it would be better if they had a reduced fee or what ever the board decideds. Board members suggested $75- $100. this will be decided in February. There will be no free golf for Fountain Help or Non at either Golf Course. The ones to receive free golf will be the workers of the golf course. There will be a complete record of rules and regulations by the end of February. The board decided to have ads in both papers the first of February, will use a copy of last years ads. Bob Jarboe will discuss an Electronic Sign with the City Council ,have sign by Chamber of Commerce with what's happening in Caldwell. Gordy asked about Janitorial services , Bob Jarboe said he would get with him on this. Rick Sweaney asked about the downstairs room at Purple Sage and what about the rental fee , this would be discussed at a later meeting after the Mayor Bob Jarboe have some facts about fees. Bob Jarboe said that the Fura� Raising Committee was meeting today at noon at the See & I Restaurant ,�nat our plans are to have an unveiling of the Bricks February 10th. Bob said he had several phone calls after he reported on the clubhouse at a council-meeting that we had payed $98.000 the first year and people were delighted with what has taken place.
