AGENDA
1) Discussion of 1999 Fee Schedule
2) New Business
Chairman Cooper called the meeting to order
Cooper reviewed the June 30 meeting with the board and the fee
schedule which had been decided on. He said the only thing left to
determine were the fees for the junior golf.
A discussion followed on the junior Program. Lenny gave the
board a corrected figure on the Caldwell Junior Golf association. He
said they have 175 members. Everyone agrees that the junior program is
the best in the valley. It was noted that because our junior season
pass price is so low we have sold over 400. This led to some
complaints from adults who say they are unable to get on the course
because of all the kids playing.
Cooper said that perhaps the way to address the problem would be
to place more restrictions on when the junior passes can be used.
After some discussion it was the consensus of the board that the junior
passes be restricted to Monday through Thursday and after 3p, Friday,
Saturday and Sunday and holidays.
At this point Cooper asked Mr. Waite if he would like to give the board
a financial report. Waite reported that the season ticket revenue as of
the end of June was $260,000. And the budget was $250,000. Green fees
are at $190,000. With $180,000. Anticipated in July, Rugust and
'1
, September, which would total $370,000. The green fee budget was
. $340,000. He said it looked like we would come in on budget on our
trail fees. The interest on money in the bank will be $21,000, as
budgeted He said all other revenue sources were on budget. Mr. Waite
said there has been some talk of a need for new irrigation system at
Fairview. He says he has been working on a four year plan to see if
this can be accomplished.
Cooper thanked Mr. Waite for his report. Waite then left the
meeting.
It was agreed by the board that the junior passes would be
restricted to Monday through Thursday and after 3pm on Friday,
Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
It was moved by Elvin Simpson and seconded by Pete Cowles that we
recommend to the City Council that the following golf fee schedule be
adopted. Motion passed unanimously.
Lenny Stoup said it is important that the junior golfers be made
aware of the new restrictions when they buy their passes for next year.
NEW BUSINESS;
Bill Moad asked if the tree that was lost on Number 8 would be
replaced. He also asked if the drivinq range could be improved to give
the golfers better targets, such as raised mounds with flags to
simulate greens. Gordy Crockett was not at the meetinq so these
questions could not be answered. Moad also requested that the men's
restrooms be cleaned more often.
Shirley Akagi told John Watson that the barbecue area was
littered with trash on Monday morning. John said we need more trash
cans in that area, and also reminded that the people using the area for
events are responsible for cleaning it afterward.
Lenny brought up a question regarding the storage of a deceased
members golf cart. Chuck Karn passed away early this spring. His cart
is still in storage at Fairview and the yearly fee has not been paid.
He was reluctant to contact the widow too soon and asked the board for
advice. Loraine Navis said she was acquainted with Mrs. Karn, and
would talk to her.
Lenny Stroup also brought up a question regarding some apparent "trade
off" arrangement that had been made with McGarvin construction.
Two young men played at Fairview and said they did not have to pay
because they worked for McGarvin. Neither the pro's nor the board is
aware of any arrangement for this, and all felt that the board had
previously discouraged any deals of this manner. Cooper said he would
check into it and see what was going on.
As there was no more business, the meeting was adjourned.
