Chairman Cooper called the meeting to order
1) CHAIR1lN' S REPORT
Cooper said he had received a call from Mrs. Anna Garza who lives
across the street from the number 9 green at Fairview. Mrs. Garza is
concerned about the golf balls that are coming across the street and
hitting her house. She is also worried about the safety of her
children. Cooper said that Garza had indicated she would be at the
meeting to plead her case but so far she is a now show. After some
discussion it was decided to fence along the street in back of the
number 9 green. This probably can't be done until next year because
the budget for this year is used to fence along number 2 fairway where
we have also been receiving complaints.
Cooper reported that he had organized a meeting to move the
process along in regard to the proposed new 18 hole course south of
Purple Sage. It had been agreed that we need to have a preliminary
routing plan done to show how the course will be laid out, and how it
works in with the plan submitted by Bob Bushnell using two fairways
cutting across his land. This meetinq in the Mayor's office was
attended by Mayor Nancolas, Golf Board Chairman Cooper, Purple Sage pro
John Watson, Golf Course Superintendent Gordy Crockett and golf course
designer Myron Tucker.

It was noted that our long range goal is to construct and operate
a new 18 hole golf course on the property the City of Caldwell has
purchased just south of Purple Sage Golf Course. Our short range goal
is to have a plan in place so that when the time is deemed right to
build the course, we will be ready. Some of the things discussed at
this meeting were:
1) Land exchange plan with Bushnell
2) Location of l tee
3) Cart access to course across Purple Sage road
4) Parking - where and how much
5) Current status of E1 Paso road
6) What kind of course do we want it to be? Long?, short?,
hard?, Easy?, Lots of sand and water?, The golf designer
will need to know these things to plan the course.
The mayor said he would take a proposal to the city council to
approve funding for golf course designer Myron Tucker to do a
preliminary routing plan for the course.
REPORT FROM JOHIJ WATSON
John asked if the new cart storage was going to be approved.
Shannon Ozuna reported that the council approved it at the last
meeting.
John said he has received his new golf carts and that it is
really nice to have them.
2) REPORT FROM LENNY STROUP
Lenny said it was unfortunate that the Cinco De Mayo
tourney didn't materialize. He said that the event held at River
Bend probably affected this. He said the rainy weather has
affected play the last 2 weeks.
Lenny said he would like to have a sign saying that "no
person or group can bring alcoholic beverages onto the golf
course premises. Golf course licensed concessionaires will
provide and monitor the sale of all alcoholic beverages." Lenny
said almost all courses have a sign similar to this.
John Watson said that he agreed that this would be a good
thing.
A discussion on this issue followed. It was moved by Elvin
Simpson and seconded by Pete Cowles that we recommend to the City
Council that no person or group can brinq personal alcoholic
beverages onto the golf course premises and that the golf courses
Have a licensed concessionaire to sell and monitor the alcoholic
beverages.
The motion passed unanimously.
It was decided that the wording on the sign will be
decided after the council approval.

w Lenny said he had a big response from junior golfers. He
has sold 280 junior passes so far this year.
REPORT FROM GORDY CROCKETT
Gordy said they will begin work on the fence on the number
2 fairway at Fairview soon. He also reported that they were
getting new sand in the traps at Purple Sage.
As there was no further business, the meeting was
adjourned.
