Minutes — Caldwell Golf Board = a
November 18, 2009
Members present — Shirley Akagi (presiding), Jim Dakan, Dan Rowell, Gerald Schroder, George
Scott, Lenny Stroup (Fairview Professional), John Watson (Purple Sage Professional)
REPORTS:
John Watson — October numbers were down, however, November should be up. Idaho
Statesman offered an advertising deal ( 2 for 1 card ) in return for free advertising twice per year.
John proposes a'/4 page add in the Press Tribune. Jim Dakan suggested running the ad on
Saturday (less inserts than Sunday). John is seeking advice on whether or not to have a Match
Play Tournament on the Memorial Day weekend. Course would be closed for 3 days, and the
event would tentatively be called Roger's Match Play Invitational. This idea was mulled over
and talked about, and eventually moved/seconded/passed.
Lenny Stroup — The October numbers were up some, actually holding their own. The college
cross country meet went very well. The snack bar ( profitability ) is not paying for itself. In
addition, the floor ( linoleum ) needs repair. George will contact Kenny Anderson and start the
ball rolling.
NEW BUSINESS:
Gerald Schroder is seeking increased information being made available on expenditures. Jim
Dakan replied that Eljay could provide this data. Gerald reiterated that it is his feeling that we
don't get enough information about, expecially, expenses that the golf courses incur. Shirley
suggested the possibility of a monthly report be made available dealing with revenue and
expenses. There was agreement that this would be helpful in making informed decisions in the
future.
Respectfully submitted,
George Scott - Secretary
