Chairman Cooper called the meeting to order. f (1) CHAIRMANS REPORT ` Cooper apologized to the board for the notices of the meeting not being mailed. Worker at city hall forgot to mail them. He noted that there were five members present present so there was a quorum . Cooper reminded the board that the City would begin their budget process soon and that if any fee increases were wanted for 1998 we should pass them so that they can be sent to the council for approval. John Watson suggested that it would be better to raise the fees a certain amount rather than adding on the sales tax to our existing fees. Lenny Stroup said he didn't think we should raise the fees at Fairview. He said we could easily over price a nine hole course. A discussion was held on the pros and cons of raising fees. Cooper said he thought it was important that we keep our fees very competitive. It was decided to table the fees increase issue until the March meeting. Cooper said he would ask Evie Kiler, the city financial person, to put together a revenue comparison of 1995-1996 so w e could see how we are doing. This would go a long way in helping us decide if we need any fee increases. Cooper said Shirley Akagi had a copy of the ad that would appear in Golf South Idaho. Shirley showed the ad to the board and it was agreed it was a good layout. Cooper complimented Shirley for doing a good job on this project. A discussion was held on the possibility of beginning a program to install golf cart paths at Fairview. It was agreed that cart paths would belp the wear and tear on the course especially in the winter. It was suggested that we try to do a couple of holes each year until we had the entire course done. Gordy said he would try and figure how much it would cost to do a couple of holes and perhaps we could get it into the 1998 budget. It was decided to discuss this further at the March meeting II REPORT FROM JOHN WATSON John said he was hoping we could get the Purple Sage course open soon. Gordy said he was having the snow scraped from the greens, and if the weather stays mild we should be able to open within a week. John brought up the credit card issue. He said many people were upset because we don't take cards. It was decided that Cooper and Watson would talk to Evie about the bank card problem. A discussion was held on whether to allow the Golden Rule Open to use our course for one day in August. They will pay $1000.00 as fees. John was told to go ahead and allow this event III REPORT FROM LENNY STROUP .Lenny said they were going to open Fairview this afternoon (February 11, 1996). The snow is finally gone. We have had 17 days of no play. IV REPORT FROM GORDY CROCKETT Gordy said the people who are moving the Hurst building were supposed to o it in April. He said we could then begin our parking lot. l l' o N' e u S l SS . M ertr ns G- ,- r N e '.
