Chairman Cooper introduced John Capps from the Press-Tribune. Mr. Capps said
that the Tribune was going to come out with a golf booklet on May 7 The booklet will
have all the golf courses in the Nampa, Caldwell and Boise Area. The booklet will be
distributed to the entire circulation of the paper, which is 22,500 homes. An additional
100 booklets will be given to each golf course. The cost for the half page ad is $90.00 for
black and white or $150.00 in color. The courses signed up so far are Ridgecrest,
Centennial, Boise Ranch, Cherry Lane, River Bend and Vineyard Greens. Cooper thanked
Mr. Capps for his presentation and told him the board would discuss his proposal and get
back to him with a decision.
Cooper said he had been contacted by Mr. Ray Laan who is putting in a sub-
division across EI Paso road next to the Purple Sage golf course. Mr. Laan had
thought a good marketing idea would be to give a couple of season passes to people who
bought lots in the development. He wanted to know if the golf board would sell him the

passes at a discount price. Cooper told him that the board has a hard firm policy that no
season passes will be sold at a discount price, however, he told Mr. Laan that he would
bring it up before the board. A short discussion followed and it was agreed by the
members present that no discounts on season passes would be given to anyone .
Chairman Cooper told the board that he had arranged a meeting with the Mayor so
that Jim McGarvin could tell the mayor about the plan for a new cart storage shed at
Purple Sage. The Mayor was all in favor of the project. The Mayor then took the
proposal to the City Council.
The board had a short discussion on the golf booklet proposal from the Press-
Tribune. Bill Moad mad a motion which was seconded by Larry Rick that we participate in
the Tribune Golf booklet with a color ad. The motion passed unanimously.
