Cooper said that Mr. Jefferies had called him objecting to the fence. Cooper explained to him that the decision to erect the fence was a done deal as the Board had already voted to do this. Now, however, work has halted by a new ruling by the city. Cooper asked Gordy Crockett to explain. Gordy said that a new council policy is that if you put a fence you must have a sidewalk, as you cannot force people to walk in the street. If we put in a sidewalk and a fence it will cut into the berm and be very close to the green. Lenny Stroup said he could see two sides to the problem; he can see why the Jefferies object to the fence because it ruins their view of the caurse, but Mr. And Mrs. Garza, next door neighbors, object to their house being hit by balls. Also they fear for their children's safety. Cooper explained to Mr. and Mrs. Jefferies that the fences were also to keep pedestrians off the golf course. Cooper asked Gordy what . •, his opinion is. Gordy said that the sidewalk and fence woulcl be a serious encroachment into the green area. Jefferies said he thought the sidewalk should be extended on his side of the street up to 10 st. and a button put in to work the stoplight so that the children can safely cross the street. Cooper read a suggestion from Mr. Busse who lives at 520 E. Logan; cut into the berm 4 ft., put in a wall and then build a fence. Lenny Stroup suggested that we table the decision on the fence until next meeting. He said he would talk to Mrs. Garza about the problem of erecting the fence. It was moved by Elvin Simpson and secanded by Shirley Akagi that we halt the fence construction until the next meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Cooper reminded the board that at the previous meeting Bill Moad had objected to the weekend tee time policy and asked the board to review it. A discussion on the policy was held and it was decided that it would be a mistake to change the existing policy in the middle of the year. Cooper said ElJay Waite had good news for us. At the previous meeting he had expressed concern that we may night me making our budget figures. After reviewing the income with John Watson and Lenny Stroup it was ascertained that we are in fact running ahead and are on track to meet our budgeted figures.
