Cooper introduced the board to Dan Rowell who is with the Caldwell Elks Club. The Caldwell Elks and the Nampa Elks have been playing each other on a home and home basis and calling it the Ryder Cup. This year it is Caldwell's tuzn to host at Purple Sage. Last year they had 72 players but would like to increase to 92 players this year. Two years ago, when the tourney was held in September, John allowed them to shot gun start on the back nine at Purple Sage. This year, they want to hold the tourney on either the 29 of July or the 12 or 26 of August, and again they would like to have a shotgun start. The course already has events scheduled for the August dates but it was decided that they could play on the 29 of July with a shotgun start if they would agree to start play after 1pm. Dan Rowell said this was agreeable to the Elks and that they would also be having their regular scheduled Caldwell Elks tourney on September 30 and John confirmed this date for them. Dan Roweil thanked the board for their time and cooperation and left the meeting. ^ Shirley Akagi has been contacted by aouch machine company that would like us to advertise with them. A representative of that company was supposed to be at the meeting to give a demo. These machines are located in airports, Chamber of Commerce offices, etc. A discussion was h.eld on the value of the Golf South Idaho brochure. The consensus is hat more brochures need to be distributed to motels and restaurants, etc. and fewer at the golf course. Cooper said we are going in the Press Tribune golf guide again this year. Everyone agreed that this is a good value. We are also in the K.O.A. camp ground directory this year. Cooper showed the board the ad we will run in the Press Tribune Cavalcade edition. In response to a question from Shirley Rkagi, Shannon Ozuna did a quick research and reported that the advertisinq budget is $5,000. Per year. Roxie Ryan arrived at the rneeting and gave the board a demonstration of the Touch machines. The board feels that this is something the Chamber of Commerce could handle. 2) REPORT FROM JOHN WATSON John showed the board a proposal put together by board member oodfidea Osgood to honor Pete Cowles. All member of the board feel it is a g and we should go ahead with the plan. John reports that play has been good when the weather is good. John also announced the transfer of Brian Culbertson from Fairview to Purple Saqe for the coming season. 3) REFPORT FROM BRIAN CULBERTSON Brian is subbing for the vacationing Lenny Stroup. Brian reports that play at Fairview has been very good, and that he is looking forward to working at Purple Sage this summer. 4) REPORT FROM GORDY CROCKETT Gordy said they were taking out some dead and diseased trees at both courses. 5) rw svsirrESs Shirley Akagi asked when the new restrooms are scheduled for Purple Sage. Gordy said they will be put in the budget for next year. The meeting was adjourned.
