Cooper read two letters to the board. The first one was from Bob Thoaqson, who is a teacher at the Valli View middle school. Mr. Thompson apologized for the actions of a few of their team members while they were practicing at Fairview. He said this would not happen again. In the future, all team functions will have an escort with them at all times. In a separate matter, Mr. Thompson asked if he could transfer his season ticket for last year to his son-in because he (Mr. Thompson) didn't use it for even one round of go1f. Lenny Stroup agreed that Mr. Thompson had not used his pass at all, and suggested that the board honor this request. Lenny also said that Thompson has volunteered to make some signs for the Fairview course at no charge. Thompson is an art teacher at Va11i View middle school. The second letter was from Deniece Schlechte who is the leader supp Readiness Group for the headquarters and headquarters servi schlechte requests free battalion based out of the Caldwell Army National armorY• use of the Fairview Golf Course for the soldiers and their families in conjunction with family appreciation day on August 13, 2000. After a short discussion it was the decision of the biardonoourngolfecoursest. This is in line with the policy of not allowing any free p y Cooper said he would write a letter to Ms. Schlechte tel1ing her of this decision. 2) REPORT FROM JOHN WATSON John said Purple Saqe is up about 20$ in =evenue for the year. The weather has been good and the play is excellent. John said he had gone to the local motels to see if they were displ.aying the Golf South Idaho brochure. He said they weren't. Shirley Rkagi said that the brochures have just arrived and were tiown at Fairview and that they would be distributed right away. John said that Ralph Lienberger, one of our regular golfers has died. His wife called and asked for a refund on his ticket. The board told john to get a refund from Betty Jo Keller, the City C1erk, and send it to Mrs. Lienberger. John said he thinks we should raise the ro h a e uses theeroom urple Saqe because the carpet has to be cleaned after every event 3) REPORT FROM LENNY STROUP Lenny reports that play has been excellent at Fairview. The figures fot Fairview show that revenues are up considerably. Lenny reports that he is having a communications problem with the greens- keepers at Fairview and is unable to discuss problems about the courcouldtpointmout Lenny and Gordy got toqether and took a tour of the course so Lenny the trouble spots to Gordy. Gordy said he would get the crew to communicate better with Lenny and keep him informed what is going on as far as maintenance is concerned. Shirley Akagi says she has received complaints about the length of the grass on the fairways. She asked if we could have the course mowed on weekends. Gordy said that mow on Monday, Wednesesyaredtoolbusy_andennytsaid1helwouldtlike to see them weekends because the cours ettin this done. the greens on the weekends, and Gordy wi11 see what he can do about g g Lenny says he is having a problem with keeping the players from moving the tee markers. Loraine Navis asked Go=dy if it would be possible to get the front of number seven t green repaired. Lenny concurred with her that this should be done, and Gordy agreed to see to it. 4) REPORT FRQM GORDY CROCKETT Gordy agreed that there have been problems at Fairview because they have been struck with several equipment failures. Because of this they have gotten behind in their mowing and the fairways have gotten too long. Gordy reports that they are still planting new trees at Purple Sage. Cooper complimented Gordy on the condition of Purple Sage, and John Watson agreed that it was in the best condition he can rememier. 4) NEW BUSINESS Cooper told the board that he had expected Eljay Waite to attend the meeting to discuss the dues structure for next year, but they would proceed without him. Cooper told the board that he has been concerned for some time about the discrimination involved in the spouse add-on policy and asked for the opinion of the board members. Dan Rowell asked how many people were abusing the policy by getting add-on tickets when they weren't married to each other. Cooper said that This is a minor part of the problem. The real problem in that the policy discriminates against single people. A married person who buys a$435.00 can purchase an additional full use pass for his/her spouse for $140.00. A single person would pay $435.00 for the same ticket. This is $295.00 more for the single person to pay. Any way you look at it, this isn't fair said cooper. The price of the combined ticket for a married couple is $575.00, or an average of $287.50 for each ticket. This is 5149.50 less than a single person pays for a ticket. Jeff Osgood said that he agrees that the policy isn't fair. Cooper says that the big problem is how to address the problem. The board held a short general discussion about the problem of how the change the policy. During the discussion, Shannon Ozuna found Mr. Waite and he joined the meetinq. ' Cooper asked Eljay if he could put together a report showing how many season tickets were sold and how many add-on tickets were sold. Eljay agreed to do this. Jeff Osgood asked how many tickets were sold to people who don't live in Caldwell. He wondered if this information is available. Cooper told the board they would have more information for the May meeting. In other business, Dan Rowell asked if John Watson had talked to the Hanson's about the property that the house sits on. John said that the Hanson's son has said that wheri the property is up for sale the City of Caldwell will be notified at once. Their being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
