HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-01-1999 TRAFFIC COMMISSION MINUTES Caldwell Traffic Commission Meeting November 1,1999 Attending: Capt. Maybon, Gordon Law and Chief Allcott. 1. Request to post additional 25 mph. sign on Cleveland at the Y off of Simplot Blvd. We agreed that this would be appropriate and vrould request that from the State since it is a State Highway. Gordon assigned. 2. Request for additional or relocated speed limit signs on Aviation Way at Linden and Ustick. This item will be revisited in about June or when the construction project is ' complete in that area. Maybon will inform STEP team( applicant). 3. Request for Speed limit signs on Denver at VanBuren School. Current sign is small yellow sign and needs replace. This issue is also considered in conjunction with 2 other request for that area. The commission agreed that we should post speed limit zones on all sides of the school property. The signs will be placed before the intersections as traffic approaches the school. They will lime green with school zone and 20 mph with no time limits. Bruce to inform applicant and Gordon to see that signs are done after Council approval. 4. Request for Stop signs at Denver and Elgin at 11 ` Ave. near the school. Decision was that we will make the school zone changes in item 3 and see how that effects the traffic and could reconsider stop signs at a later date. Bruce will write letter after Council approval and Gordon will get signage done. 5. Request to resolve inconsistent speed limit signage on Cleveland at 34 and Florida. West bound is currently 45 mph to w. side of 34 but speed limit Eastbound isn't posted to be 45mph until about 38` Decision of commission was that westbound speed limit sign of 35 mph should be posted just east of 34 and that the speed limit . sign should be posted 45 mph on the eastbound side just east of Florida. May require resolution for State Highway. Bruce to follow-up on resolution with Betty Jo. 6. Complaint about gravel trucks using Lincoln through Canyon Hill area as main route. Discussed that we need to be able to better document usage and that we should table a decision until the STEP team has the chance to look into it. Maybon to follow-up. 7. Request to change names and addresses on Arthur Court streets. This is already being handled by the Fire Dept. through the Street Naming Ordinance process. 8. Request for diagonal parking at 215 S. 11 `" for Cowgirls Tanning. The street will accommodate that, as it is wider that usual and apparently used to be this way. Decision was to ask the applicant to get consent of neighbors and then we would get it done. Bruce will follow up on this after Council approval. 9. Request for Handicap parking stalls at Leisure Village #5, 911 Belmont. Discussed the problems with the request to have designated handicap parking on city streets and felt that was not an option at this time. Recommendation of committee was to have . the applicants seek to have designated handicap parking in the private parking lot of the facility. Maybon to follow up on this after Council Approval. 10. Request from Principal at VanBuren School for flashing warning lights at the crosswalk near 11 ` and Chicago. Discussed current markings and cost for flashing lights. Decision was to place lime green signs and move the sign that is currently obstructed by a tree to the east side of the tree and see if that will help slow traffic.
