• SEPTEMBER 4, 2001
ATTENDING: MAYOR NANCOLAS, GORDON LAW, CHIEF SOBBA, CHIEF
ALLCOTT AND STEVE HASSON.
OLD BUSINESS: All items from last meeting were addressed or are in the works to be
completed.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. We discussed notice that was received with respect to increased signage by ITD on
the Freeway at exit 29 about the airport and other city facilities. No action necessary.
2. We reviewed the proposed signals at Exit 29 and Franklin. No action necessary.
3. Request to restrict parking at Elm and l O Ave. in the vision triangle — Action:
Mayor Nancolas to verify that signage and curb painting and striping are appropriate
for the intersection area.
4. Request to deal with speeding on Idaho @ Morrison — Action: Chief Sobba to refer
for enfarcement actions and place radar trailer in the area.
5. Request for "No Truck" signage and code enforcement in Canyon Hill area by W.
Burmeister— Action: Chief Sobba to review the applicable siatutes for enforcement
that were referenced in the letter and report back on needs in that area.
6. Request by Shirley Ross for stop signs on Beech at Airport — Action: Gordon to
have stop signs placed on Beech on both sides of Airport.
• 7. Request to for additional Dead End signs on N. 9 Ave at Marble Front by Shirley
Brumfield — Action: Chief Allcott to review traffic control manual for appropriate
signage and language and get with Gordon Law to get done.
8. Request for speed limit signs at entrance to Southern Heights subdivision by Keoni H.
Lima. Action: Steve Hasson to respond by offering signs�t their expense. He will
also look at the need for such signs in the plan review phase of subdivisions as a
potential requirement.
9. Request by Murl Bright for "no parking in alle}�' signs in 1700 block of Willow.
Action: Chief Sobba to have STEP team look into the situation and enforce existing
ordinance in this respect.
10. Request for additional speed limit signs east of Cleveland on Ustick by Bud Fessler.
Action: Chief Allcott to review and then notify Gordon of additional signs needed.
11. Request by Melissa Hale for speed bumps in West Valley Subdivision. Action:
Steve Hasson to write letter explaining policy against speed bumps and explain that
CPD will also use the radar trailer in that area and do enforcement.
12. Request for stop signs in the area of Ohio and Willow and Locust. This request came
as a result of a recent accident in the area. Action: Steve Hasson will write letter
explaining that stop signs would not really reduce the problem, but would shift it
and/or make it worse due to increased speed.
13. Request by Post Office to restrict parking in the area of the post office. This request
included several items: a. Post Office only parking on 9 Action: denied. b. Request
for "30 minute parking". Action: denied. c. Handicapped parking spot near ra.mp.
• Action: denied — there is no access through the curb in that area. d. Request for 4-

way stop at 9 th and Arthur. Action: Approved along with the painting of the
• appropriate crosswalk and stop bars. Chief Sobba will communicate with Post
Master. Mayor will also notify Kayla Skelton who had also made this same request
on the stop signs.
14. Request by Mrs. Navarro for crosswalk at Larch and Indiana, Action: Chief Allcott
to write letter denying this request as there is already a crosswalk at Fairoaks and
Indiana that should serve for this and we will monitor this need.
15. Parking at Oregon and Ustick Park. Action: Gordon will see that it is posted no
parking at the intersection and Chief Sobba will have officers enforce no parking in
driveways and no double parking.
