CALDWELL TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETIITG
. SEPT'EMBER 4, 2002 .
ATTENDING: MAYOR NANCOLAS, STEVE HASSON, GORDON LAW, BOB ' - .
SOBBA AND BRUCE ALLCOTT.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Review of last meetings assignments; p11 were completed except one letter
that Bruce will write to Mr. Runsvold.
2. Item #3 from last meeting about the dead end on Alder at Glenn Meadows had
been resolved. The ov vc,as told that if the lot was developed he would
need to put in curb, gutter and sidewalk but could leave the gravel that is in
place there as a temporary turnaround until such time as the road is cut
through. This was worked out with Steve Hasson. The issue was resolved in
this manner.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Request for 20 mph speed limit signs on N. Georgia: Chief Sobba advised that
his personnel had already dealt with this issue and discussed it with the
requesting person. Action: Gordon Law will see that "20 mph unless
othervvise posted" signs are placed at all entrances to the City to meet the
requirements of Judge Petrie so that it will be enforceable in all azeas of town.
Gordon will also review location of those signs so that if the speed limit is
• otherwise in the areas that it is properly posted.
2. Request to extend Sunset north from Morrison: concerns expressed about
some traffic flow problems and other driving violations in the area of Logan
and Sunset. Sobba indicated that his folks had dealt with another complaint in
the area and had already taken some actions to help. The mayor will meet
with this person to explain that we probably don't have the ability to extend
Sunset due to different property owner and right-of-way issues at this time.
3. Concerns with parking at 5' and Elgin at El Tio Poncho: Two issues were
presented; the first was pa.rking on what was to be sidewalk with a parking
bazrier across the sidewalk azea. Action: Gordon will have the banier
removed. The second issue was with some other pazking that appeared to
extend into the traffic lane. Action: Steve will notify owner of the problem
and work to identify solution to this to be sure proper visibility at the
intersection is maintained.
4. Need to work on Ustick as an east-west principle arterial: Chief Allcott
discussed the need to follow up on discussions with the Canyon Highway
District on the need, with the placement of the fire station on Ustick and with
the limited visibility at several of those intersections, to facilitate east-west
traffic flow and not just north-south flows at those intersecdons. Action:
Chief Allcott will schedule meeting with highway district for Mayor and
Gordon and he to attend.
