TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETING
. September 4, 2003
Attending: Mayor Nancolas, Gordon Law, Chief Sobba, Steven Hasson, Chief
Allcott.
Old business:
Reviewed previous assignments.
New business:
1. Request by Verna and Kenneth Griffiths for curve marking on Marblefront @
Georgia- determined that it would be appropriate. Action: approved putting
in reflective markers, Mayor will notify them.
2. Request for red curbing at Caldwell Auto Supply, 2221 Cleveland — Discussed
the request to eliminate parking for 20' each side of entrance drive. _
Determined that it would create other problems and if others did the same
there would be significant reductions in parking. Action: Bruce will notify
that we will paint white striping to designate the end of the parallel parking
space on each side of driveway to help insure that the full width of the drive is
available, but not the 20' requested.
3. Request for 4-way stop at Montana and 21 deferred since those streets don't
intersect. Action: Mayor will contact to clarify location.
. 4. Request for all roads in Montana, lO Ustick and Homedale area to be 20
mph and place streetlight at l O and Laster. Discussed that there have been
some other mitigation efforts made with the school construction project and
we will need to evaluate that effectiveness. Streetlight may be feasible if
power is available at that location. Action: Steve will contact about the speed
control issues and notify of current policy on posting speed limits. Gordon
will check on streetlight feasibility.
5. Request of Guy Vanbeek for 20 mph posting on N. Georgia — Action:
Gordon will notify of current policy of posting if they want to purchase the
sign.
6. Request for traffic light at 21 and Chicago — last warrant assessment did not
justify stoplight. Action: Gordon will notify them that the City will be doing
another warrant study starting next Monday.
7. Request for 4-way stop at Beech and Georgia — discussed what the issue was.
Seemed that it was based on particular incident. Traffic didn't warrant it at
this time. It seemed to be enforcement issue. Action: Bob will notify that
we will have the speed trailer out there and will work on traffic enforcement.
8. Request for right hand yield turn from Franklin onto I-84 eastbound — seems
to make sense. Will require ITD approval. Action: Mayor will notify and
see if ITD will approve and then we will do it.
9. Request for speed limit signs in Silver Bow Subd. — Action: Bob will inform
them of policy on sign purchase and us posting them.
