CALDWELL TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETING
• NOVEMBER 19, 2003
ATTENDING: MAYOR NANCOLAS, CHIEF SOBBA, GORDON LAW, STEVEN
HASSON AND CHIEF ALLCOTT
Old Business:
All items from previous meeting were completed as assigned. I
New Business:
1. Caldwell School District representatives presented some issues that are developing
with respect to student safety and bussing that will impact traffic in Caldwell. We
discussed issues with respect to bus stops and walking routes. There is a good
relationship that we will continue to build on and evaluate these issues and develop
policies that will help with this. There was a specific request for a crosswalk at the
south side of Spruce on 10`" Ave. for Jefferson Jr. High students. Action: Gordon
will evaluate the specifics and the commission felt that it would be good.
2. Rquest for nor parking sign on Tinnin Lane at the dead end. There is a emergency
,'ehicle cul-de-sac that people are parking in and the requesting party would like some
' signs placed. Action: Bruce will go to that location and check for any other concerns
and the we will recommend placement of signs as needed.
3. Request for vacation of ROW in the area of impact on Primrose off of Farmway and
Linden. It was not real clear why the request was necessary and we need more
information on this issue. Action: Gordon will have engineering request additional
information.
4. Request by Western Development to place a chain across their north end of parking
lot near Subway (911 Belmont) to prevent Subway traffic from using their parking
lot. Action: Steve will contact them and let them know that they can do what they
want with their property and it is not a issue for emergency access.
5. Request for posting "20 mph " speed limit on Parkhurst. Action: Gordon will notify
them of policy that they can purchase and we will install if they want to.
6. Request by CPD to place a"do not block intersection" sign on Franklin at Specht to
allow better traffic flow off of Specht. Action: Gordon will have a sign placed at the
west side of Specht.
7. Parking problems on Indiana at Brother Park. Chief Allcott noted that at a recent
soccer tournament there was parking along both sides of Indiana in this area causing
traffic to have to divert out of their lanes creating a safety issue. Parking was
available at the high school but not being used. Action: Gordon will check on the
width of Indiana at that location and we will post no parking signs and may consider
signage directing them to use the high school parking lot as intended.
