• Present: Gordon Law, Chairman Mayor Nancolas, Chief Mark Wendelsdorf, Steve Hasson,
and Chief Bob Sobba
Old Business
1. Spruce Street
Gordon Law reviewed a summary addressing cross walk relocation and Spruce St. re-route
alternative issues.
• The cross walk issue had already been resolved
• Chris Hopper has met with and submitted a proposat to the School District
regarding the re-route
2. Marble Front Widening
Gordon Law reported the cost estimate of widening Marble Front to be
• 400-450K to acquire property
• 320 - 360 K to construct retaining walls
Due to the project being cost prohibitive at this time, the motion was made and carried
unanimously by the Traffic Commission to put the project on hold at this time.
New Business
1. Exit 29.
Mr. Gordon Smith & H Pacific and Mr. Bruce Harrel, ITD appeared before the Traffic
• commission to present and discuss an alternative design that would split the present�y
suggested common intersection of Franklin 8� Commercial Way. The alternative design
would provide the following advantages:

• Requires crossing the historic canal only once vs. twice
Input is still desired from Mr. John Ewing who currently owns significant property along
Franklin that would be affected.
Action: Engineering will coordinate a meeting with Mr. Ewing, Gordon Law, Mayor
Nancolas, Steve Hasson, and representatives of W& H Pacific and ITD.
1.B Light at Aviation Way 8� 20/26 (not on the agenda but also discussed in addition
to above item #1).
Gordon Smith and Bruce Harrel also requested to discuss the light installation at Aviation
Way and Hwy 20/26. It has been acknowledged for some time that the installation of a traffic
signal at the above noted intersection will disrupt The Flying J traffic flow. It was noted that
various options have been presented to Flying J and Flying J has rejected all options
presented.
Flying J's option to re-route Aviation Way from iYs current design was discussed and
determined not a viable option.

' 2. Parking issue on Dearborn across from new Home Federal
The Caldwell Post Office had experienced problems delivering mail to 909 Dearbom due to
• Home Federal employees parking in front of the mail receptacle. The Post Office is
requesting the City paint the curbing red in front of the residences mail receptacle to prevent
parking.
The commission agreed unanimously to table the issue until next mtg., 7/10/2004, so
everyone can drive by and view the situation.
3. Intersection at Cleveland and 10th.
The City received a letter from a concerned citizen requesting clearer marking at Clevelarid
and 10 The Mayor noted and the Commission agreed this is, and has been, an on going
subject of concem brought to the Traffic Commission's attention.
The motion was made and the Traffic Commission agreed unanimously to install Titan
Traffic Markers (traffic delineation domes) to better mark traffic lane flow.

4. Request for No Parking Signs on East Ustick Road.
City received a letter from Mr. Monty Bloomfield regarding Semi Trucks parking on East
Ustick Road behind his residence. Mr. Bloomfield requested No Parking Signs be installed
to eliminate parking for what the Traffic Commission assumes would be safety concerns.
The motion was made and the Traffic Commission agreed unanimously to have Chief
Sobba send an O�cer out to visit Mr. Bloomfield and report at the next meeting, July 6�'.

� 5. Request for No Parking Signs at the Dead End barrier on Fillmore Street.
City received a letter from Hurshel and Chris Howell, 1020 Fillmore Street. The Howells live

concems regarding park patrons utilizing their street as a parking lot resulting in blocking
driveways and double parking. This in turn creates hardships for the Howells and the
Howells elderly neighbors. The traffic commission discussed the issue and the fact that
tl�ere are parking lots provided for park patron's use. Traffic Commission agreed
unanimously to have Chief Sobba send an Officer out to visit Mr. and Mrs. Howell and report
at the next meeting, July 6
Action: Chief Sobba
6. � Request meeting time be moved from 10:00 to 10:30.
Chief Sobba requested the Traffic Commission Meeting move start time from 10:00 to 10:30.
Traffic Commission agreed unanimously.
This-concluded themeeting and the meeting was adjourned.
The next Traffic Commission meeting is scheduled for July 6th at 10:30 am
