Intersection on Maple & Airport (Mr. & Mrs. Pearson) Chief Sobba reviewed the area and reported there are currently no stop signs at that intersection. Chief Sobba also reported this area to be low traffic and does not meet criteria to warrant a stop sign. The motion was made and the Traffic Commission agreed unanimously to not install stop signs. ��fi��n '�'�t�'rit�y �r�r��� Communicate the actions of the Commission to Mr. & Mrs. Pearson. 2. Speed Limit Reduction on Caldwell Blvd. (D.L. Maitland) Chief Sobba reviewed traffic history along the boulevard in Mr. Maitland's area of concern. He found only one documented accident in the past year. It was discussed that Arterials are designed to move traffic and reducing the speed below "prevailing" speeds would reduce safety and increase congestion. The commission adopted a motion not to approve a speed reduction. Ac„t�lt�i�����f �l��a� Communicate the actions of the Commission to Mr. Maitland • 3. Lucky Way Vacation Request (Mr. Oropeza) Mr. Oropeza requested vacation of the North half of Lucky Way between Brian Avenue and 10 Avenue. Vacation of the south half was recently granted to Schyular Enoch and it was the action of the commission to maintain the remaining 30 ` as a utility corridor. The Traffic Commission recommended denial of Mr. Oropeza's request to vacate. #�ti�n: ����rman L�w',� Communicate the actions of the Commission to Mr. Oropeza �.,,.., 4. `Slow' or `Curve' sign on Hird Street (Marta Rostock) Out of concern of safety, Marta Rostock requested signage at the corner of Hird Street and Wilson Street. Ms. Rostock is concerned that drivers will not see the curve and continue forward, eventually running off the edge of Canyon Hill. The motion was made and the Traffic Commission agreed unanimously to install the requested signage. In addition and due to the consistent location of requests, item 5 of New Business was also addressed during this conversation. Dave Marston requested `Dead End' signs be removed that are no longer valid due to the opening of Wilson Street between Hird and N. Montana. Traffic Commission recommended unanimously to remove the irrelevant signage. New Business • 1. Request for `Dead End' signs at Glenn Meadow Estates (Tom Prall) Glenn Meadows is a Senior Citizens subdivision. On behalf of himself and his neighbors, Mr. Prall requested adding a large `DEAD END' sign to a`NOT THRU STREET' sign currently in place on Alder Street near the entrance of Glenn Meadows Estates. It is their hope that this change will decrease the amount of unnecessary traffic in their subdivision. Traffic Commission recommended unanimously to exchange the `DEAD END' sign for the `NOT THRU STREET' sign. A+c��t�n� �+�r ��n�±�t��a�'= Communicate the actions of the Commission to Mr. Prall � . A��t�c�l�: ��airr�t�n L��nt-� Follow up with Street Department to initiate recommendation 2. Request "Children at Play" sign on Crestline —(Name and Address unavailable at this time) The Mayor was approached in person with a request to have `Children at Play' signs installed on Crestline Avenue. The motion was made and the Traffic Commission recommended unanimously to respond to this request consistent with past commission policy, i.e. inform the requestor that normal procedure is for the individual to purchase the sign and the City to install it. The individual is also responsible for obtaining, and providing to the City at time of purchase, written permission from the property owner where the sign will be placed. �4��t�on; T�r�tiri�y ��r��t�.-Send correspondence and a copy of City Sign policy to the requestor • 3. Request Turn Signal enhancement at Kimball and Blaine (Ed Perzano) Mr. Perzano would like to have the signal at the intersection of Kimball and Blaine enhanced to allow for a`LEFT TURN ON RED AFTER STOP'. After discussion the Traffic Commission agreed this would provide consistency of signalization. However, Blaine and Cleveland are under the jurisdiction of the State. Change to signals on Blaine or Cleveland involves cooperation and communication with the State (ITD). The motion was made and the Traffic Commission recommended unanimously to have Chairman Law contact the State and explore the possibility of the above request. Request `Slow Down' signs on Sunset, Woodlawn, Parkhurst and Palo Alto (Era Bustillos) Ms. Bustillos submitted the above request in writing to the Traffic Commission. The motion was made and the Traffic Commission recommended unanimously to respond to this request consistent with past commission policy, i.e. inform Ms. Bustillo that normal procedure is for the individual to purchase the sign and the City to install it. The individual is also responsible for obtaining, and providing to the City at time of purchase, written permission from the property owner where the sign will be placed.
