1. Request "Speed Limit" signs on Larch Street. (Detective Devin Riley)
Detective Riley was notified by Ms. Robin Navarro that there are no Speed Limit signs on
Larch Street but there is an increasing and on-going speeding issue.
Detective Riley performed a surveillnc of the arPa and f!nd Rs. !a :arre's cbse ati ,;,
be accurate. Detective Riley believes speed limit signs would be helpful to let driver's know
how fast they can drive. A posted speed limit would also be helpful to officers in writing
infractions. Upon discussion, Chief Allgood added that the CPD has received numerous
other complaints regarding speeding on the street.
Usual policy for additional signage is for the cost of the signage to fall to the requestoNs.
However the TC felt Larch Street differs in the following ways;
• it is like a classified street with regional imjpact
• it is a non-subdivision street
• it is close to a school
Considering those differences, a motion was made to post speed limit signs on Larch Street,
between Illinois Avenue and Indiana Avenue, at the expense of the City,. The speed limit
posted will be based on a suggested speed limit to be determined by Chief Allgood after
further investigation of the area.
Traffic Commission agreed unanimously for the motion
+nFuot- Review and determine appropriate Speed limit.
A=:r- Upon receiving the suggested speed limit, request signage
installation from the Street Department.
The next Traffic Commission Meeting will be February 4, 2008 @ 10:30 in the Mayors
conference room.
