Old Business
1. Rural Site Triangles (Gordon Reed)
Please review previous minutes for additional history on this request beginning September 2010.
01-04-2011 Gordon presented a diagram showing site triangles for 45 mph & 55 mph speed
zones. Brent Orton suggested the decision point be reduced from 30' to 18'. The diagram is
intended to provide citizens a tool for measurement. If curb and gutter is present measurement
will be from face of curb, if not measurement will be made from edge of pavement..
A motion was made and the Traffic Commission agreed unanimously to reduce the decision point
to 18' and to have Engineering formalize and finalize the diagram for public use. A 2" motion was
made and the Traffic Commission agreed unanimously to have P&Z pursue creating ordinance
modification documents and to make them available to TC members to review and comment back
on prior to the February TC meeting. Documents should be finalized by the February TC meeting
so they can be passed by the TC and made available for consideration at the February P&Z
meeting.

2. Request "4-Way Stop Signs" at Canyon Springs School (Mr. Quarrel's, Caldwell school
district) See previous minutes for additional discussion of this item
Please review previous minutes for additional history on this request being September 2010.
Again, no response was received from Canyon Springs. This request will be tabled and removed
from the agenda.
New Business
1. Request Additional Crossing Protection at lO & Linden (Kelly Brooks)
Ms. Brook's made the above request based on personal close calls at the above intersection.
The intersection was recently enhanced and improved in accordance to MUTCD. CPD has
already increased patrols at the above intersection. TC does not deem that further
signalization or signage would make the intersection safer. Engineering will verify that signal
timing is in accordance with MUTCD and CPD will look at traffic data from when the
intersection was improved. General consensus of the Commission is that drivers and
pedestrians must share responsibility for safety at intersections. A motion was made and the
Traffic Commission agreed unanimously to send correspondence to Ms. Brooks explaining
the TC's opinion.
At.amy `r Prepare and send correspondence to Ms. Brooks.
Added Business
1. Pedestrian hit at the intersection of Illinois & Marble Front (Brent Orton)
Brent researched the above intersection and suggested to TC that it would be better to have
a Ped crossing on the North side of the intersection. As a preventive measurement, the Ped
crossing time has been increased. Funds will be requested in the 2012 budget to design and
install a Ped-head on the North side of the intersection.
Attor ► MCtid Research new rules and design Ped-Xing for North side.
2. Signal timing too restrictive at 10 8 Chicago Street. (Chief Allgood)
Chief Allgood requested an increase in the above signal timing. It is difficult for drivers to get
through the intersection with the present signal timing. Brent Orton agreed to lengthen the
timing to a second and a half.
