Caldwell Industrial Airport Commission
Ray Caldwell — Chairman
4601-4 Aviation Way
Caldwell, ID 83605
Date: August 29, 2002
To: All Airport Commission Members
From. Ray Caldvvell
Subject: Minutes of August 1, 2002 Meeting
Invited Gqests: Janet Howard
Present were Ray Caldwell, Mag Barker, and Phil Fouts. We did not have a
quorum.
Mark Hilty did not attend with the latest version of the Ordinance dealing with
Zoning and Overlays for the land around the Airport. We spent the time reviewing
the Zoning Document, which deals with the Airport Land.
Most of the discussion dealt with the types of Uses, which are appropriate for the
• Airport. Steve Hassen counciled us to use the Zoning to allow uses that give the
Airport the best chance of accomplishing its long term mission.
The tricky problem is that certain vses are acceptabte if they use aviation to
accomplish their goals. For instauce, a distribution warehouse might be acceptable
if prodacts either arrive or depart by air, but might not be acceptable if products
arrive and depart only by truck,
Jan W. de Weerd suggested that the Land Uses for the Airport be as friendly as
possible in order to invite industry. He felt that companies faced with the need to
acquire a special use permit would tend to avoid Caldwell Industrial Airport.
The Commission will decide how to complete Zaning work and make
recommendations to the City Council at its negt meeting
