HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-06-1990 AIRPORT MINUTES , � � � CALDWELL AIRPORT COMMISSION September 6, 1990 Present: Marty Koch, Paul Collins, Budd Kehne, Mack Kreizenbeck, Bob McGee, and Jack Raymond. The Meeting was called to order by Marty Koch. The minutes of the August 1, 1990 Meeting were approved. Jerry Olson, the Airport Manager reported that 12,000 lineal feet of crack filling has been accomplished. It is estimated that approximately 12,000 lineal feet remains to be done. This includes the remainder of the private hangar taxiways and the general aviation ramp. It was moved and seconded to proceed with crack filling to complete the project. MOTION CARRIED The Airport Manager reported that: a. The GTE Airfone Lease has been approved. Rent wi 1 1 be $150.00 per month. b. The Airport Subdivision survey has been completed and accepted by the P 1 anning and Zoning Commission and the City Council. c. Testing results from the Precision Flight site should be available shortly. d. Painting of Airport City owned buildings is being contracted out to be done this fall, as previously approved. e. The hangar being constructed by Paul Collins and Mack Kreizenbeck is nearing completion. Dick Drake is still planning to construct a three aircraft hangar this fall. f. A land lease with Leland Earnest for the former Campbell property has been approved by the City Council. g. The new Unicom has been ordered. The Commission approved a hangar land lease for John Jackson who purchased a hangar from Duane Wolfe. The Commission discussed changing the Airport Rules and Regulations to provide that businesses or individuals wishing to conduct operations involving hazardous materials at the Caldwell Airport be required to have S 1, 000, 000 ( one mi 11 ion do 11 ars ) of 1 i abi 1 ity insurance or a$1, 000, 000 ( one mi 1 1 ion do 1 1 ar ) bond specifically covering hazardous material spills and clean up. The exact wording of this provision will be worked out and incorporated into the Rules and Regulations after approval by the Commission and City Council. The Commission discussed the possibility of the City insuring the private hangars for premises liability and billing the tenants accordingly. Individual tenants are finding that it is difficult and expensive to obtain insurance. This will be discussed with the City insurance representative. • � � Mack Kreizenbeck reported that he has talked with Mr. Ryan of the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge concerning float planes on Lake Lowell. He will continue to pursue this with Mr. Ryan and his associates. The Commission passed a motion to loan the old Unicom to Wilder Air Force Station so they can monitor VHF equipped aircraft passing through their area. Weeds in the areas leased to Turfco were discussed. The Airport Manager will re-emphasize this problem with Darwin McKay of Turfco. The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
