Section 1. 6ojicitor defined:- -A solicitor within
the meaning of this ordinance, is defined to be any person

Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person,
fir. or corporation, acting as peddlers, or any person to
ac t as a solicitor ,,.it.iin the me,jr-n- a.ad application of ti is
o-1-dinance, - first securing a license so to do, from the
city clerk cf said city.

residing within the city of J'aldwell, c r in lieu thereof a
cash bend Of e,-JUU1 a-MOUnt, conditicned upon the making of final
d�:livery of the goods ordered or services to be perforraed,, in
accordance with the terms of such order, or failing therein,
that the advance payifient on such order be refunded. Any per-
son aggrieved by the action of such solicitor small have a
right of a.tion on the bond for the re :overt' of money or dam-
ages, Or bot! . Such bond &iall remain in full fox-ce and effect,
and in case of cash deposit, such deposit shall be retained by
the said city of Caldwell for a period of 90 days after the
expiration of such license, unless sooner released by order of
the city council of s, city.

and the amount paid in advance, and one copy shall be given
to the purchasers at the time of the taken; of s id order.
Section 5. Solicitors as defined by tlais ordinance
shall be subject to the fullowinL license fees, payable to
said city:

Section 6. There are excepted from the provisions
of this ordinance traveling salosinen doing bus as rpore-
sentative3 (..f established firras and selling wholesale to estab-
lished businesses oithin the corporate limits of the city of
Caldwell, and perSUIIS soliciting; for the sale o-P nerjvsoaipers,
reli tracts, milk, end agricultural or farm products.
Section 7. It shall be unlawful for any person
engaged in the business of soliciting, as defined by this
ordinance, or any person pretending to be a solicitor, to ring
the bell or knock at the door of any residence or dwelling
bearing the sign 11 _1 , �o Solicitors", or solicit or pretend to
solicit in any building wherein or whereon the words "No Solic-
itors" or words of similar import are fainted or affixed so
as to be exposed to public view.
Jection S. Sections 2-617, 2-618 and 2-619, of the
Caldwell Code of 1942, in so far as the same apply to solicit-
ors are hereby rep!°aled-
3ection 9. Any person violating any of the sectons
of this ordinance, u,Jon conviction thereof, shall be deemed
f '. Ity of a misdemeanor, and punished by a fine of not to
,ui
exceed one hundred dollars (4100.00).
Section 10. This ordinance shall. be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, aonroval, and publica-
tion.
