ORDINANCE NO. 1830
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE I, CHAPTER 5, OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, COUNTY OF CANYON, STATE OF
IDAHO, PERTAINING TO COUNCIL BY DELETING AND ADDING CERTAIN
LANGUAGE IN SECTION 2, REGARDING REPRESENTATION: REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS, ORDERS OR PARTS THEREOF IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CALDWELL, IDAHO, COUNTY OF CANYON, STATE OF IDAHO:
Section 1. That Title I, Chapter 5 of the Municipal Code of
the City of Caldwell, County of Canyon, State of Idaho, shall be
amended by deleting and adding certain language in Section 2
pertaining to Representation as follows:
1 -5 -2: REPRESENTATI The Cily Council of the City of
Caldwell does, by this Sect ion, find that the citizens of
Caldwell would be best served by crovidinq for the election of
Councilpersons by designated Counci seats pursuant to Idaho Code
50 -707. The City of Cal dwel l shal hav a City Council composed
of six (6) members. Durin each Genera City E lection, three (3)
of the six ( 6 ) members of the City Council shall stand for re=
el ection for a four (4) year term of office. Each candidate for
the City Council shall meet the residency requirements in the
City of Cal as set out in Idaho Code. The City Cl erk shal
assign a number for each of the six (6) Council seats currently

filled ]?y existing Councilperso The assignment of each
numbered Council seat shall be at random with the method of
random se lection to be determined by the City Cl erk. Candidates
for Counci seats, as established !2y this Chapter, shal file for
a designated Council seat in the manner prescribed j?y Idaho Code.
Begii with the General Municipal Elections to be held in
November, 1991, those three (3) Councilpersons with terms ending
in January, 19 shall stand for electi after filinc,� for
candidacy as required by this Chapte against other qualified
candidates for the Council seats created by this Chapt
Thereafter, each Council arson shal stand for e lection, after
filing for candidacy as required j?y this Chapter, against other
qualified candidates pursuant to and for the Council seats as
created by this Chapter at the next General M unicipal El ections
immediatel prior to the termination of that Councilperson's term
of office. Members of the Ca ldwe ll City Counci shal be el ected
by a ma,_ority of the qualified electors as established by the
State Code.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances
inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval, and publication according
to law.
