ORDINANCE NO. 1696
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE IX, CHAPTER 2, SECTION 9 AND
SECTION 32 (A) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL,
COUNTY OF CANYON, STATE OF IDAHO WHICH PERTAINS TO DOGS AND
OTHER ANIMALS BY DELETING AND ADDING CERTAIN LANGUAGE WITH
REGARD TO KENNEL LICENSES REQUIRED AND ANIMALS: REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS, OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CALDWELL, COUNTY OF CANYON, STATE OF IDAHO:
Section 1. That Title IX, Chapter 2, Section 9 and
Section 32(A) be amended as follows:
9 - 2 - 9: KENNEL LICENSE REQUIRED: It shall be unlawful to keep,
maintain or possess upon the premises of any one household more than
two (2) dogs more than six (6) months of age unless the owner or
person in charge thereof shall have obtained a kennel license. Sneh

Said dog kennel shall b e kept at all times in a clean and sanitary
condition and the dog sh all be reasonably restrained from annoying the
neighborhood or the general public by loud, frequent, or habitual
barking, helping or howlin
The application for kennel license shall state the name and address
of the owner of said kennel, the location where kennel is to be kept
and the number of dogs proposed to be kept. No kennel shall be established
within one hundred fifty feet (150') of any dwelling house other than
that of the kennel owner; provided, however, that a kennel license may
be issued by the City to establish a kennel within one hundred fifty
feet (150') of a dwelling house other than that of the kennel owner
upon consent of all property owners within three hundred feet (300') of
the kennel.
Approval from the Building Official must be obtained with regard to
distance and the consent from the property owners. If a kennel license
is issued, the holder thereof shall pay the City an annual license fee
of twentv -five dollars ($25.00) and said certificate of lic shall

be posted in a conspicious place at the kennel. No kennel license
shall be transferable

9 -2 -32: ANIMALS:
(A) No swine shall be raised, kept or maintained within the
limits of the City.
No cows, llamas, horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, poultry or
any other animal may be raised, kept or maintained within the City limits
of Caldwell unless raised, kept or maintained in buildings or enclosures
approved by the Building Official of the City. A violation of this
provision shall be a misdemeanor
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent
herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
