AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 7 OF TITLE II OF THE CITY CODE OF
THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE ELECTRICAL
EXAMINING BOARD; AMENDING SECTION 5 -3 -1 OF CHAPTER 3 OF TITLE V
OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, WITH REGARD TO
THE "NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE" PUBLISHED BY THE NATIONAL FIRE
PROTECTION ASSOCIATION WHEREBY SAID CODE AS ADOPTED SHALL BE THE
CURRENT EDITION THEREOF AS ADOPTED BY THE STATE OF IDAHO; AMEND-
ING SECTION 5 -3 -4 OF CHAPTER 3 OF TITLE V OF THE CITY CODE OF THE
CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, PARAGRAPHS G, H AND I ELIMINATING THE
REQUIREMENT THAT ANY PERSON DESIRING TO FOLLOW THE OCCUPATION OF
JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN IN THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, SHALL BE
REQUIRED TO UNDERGO AN EXAMINATION AS TO HIS QUALIFICATIONS AS
AN ELECTRICIAN BEFORE THE BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS, MAKING
THE INITIAL FEE FOR JOURNEYMEN ELECTRICIANS LICENSE $10.00, WITH
THE ANNUAL RENEWAL FEE OF $5.00, ELIMINATING THE PROVISION THAT
A RENEWAL FEE SHALL BE DOUBLE THE REGULAR ANNUAL FEE; AND AMEND-
ING SECTION 5 -3 -14 OF CHAPTER 3 OF TITLE V OF THE CITY CODE OF
THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, PARAGRAPH D INVOLVING ENCLOSURES
AND MAKING THE REQUIREMENT TO BE EQUIPPED WITH AN APPROVED BOX
RATHER THAN EQUIPPED WITH A METAL BOX.
BE IT ORDAINED By the Mayor and Council of the City of
Caldwell, Idaho:
Section 1. That Chapter 7 of Title II of the City Code
of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, is hereby repealed.
Section 2. That Section 5 -3 -1 of Chapter 3 of Title V
of the City Code of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, is hereby amended
21 11 to read as follows:
"5 -3 -1: ADOPTION OF ELECTRICAL CODE: There is hereby
adopted for the purpose of establishing minimum standards of design
24 materials, and workmanship for all electrical installations here -
25 after installed, altered or repaired and to establish methods of
26 procedure, within the Limits of this Municipality that certain
27 Electrical Code known as the "National Electrical Code" published
28 by the National Fire Protection Association, being the current
29 edition of said Code as adopted by the State of Idaho, and the
30 whole thereof, except as amended by making insertions here below,
31 and of which not less than three (3) copies, including copies of
32 said insertions, deletions, substitutions, additions, or amend-

24 First day of January each year. A full years license fee shall
2 be collected for each license issued."
2 "(I) Electrical Contractor licenses shall expire each
27 year on December 31 and shall be renewed not later than January 15
28 following upon payment of the regular annual fee. Journeyman
29 Electrician licenses shall expire each year on December 31 and
30 may be renewed for the regularly required annual fee if requested
31 and payment of the said fee is made within thirty (30) days of the
32 expiration date of the said license.If such renewal be requested

ments have been and now are filed in the office of the Clerk, and

the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out
3
at length herein."

Section 3. That Paragraphs G, H and I of Section 5 -3 -4

of Chapter 3 of Title V of the City Code of the City of Caldwell,

Idaho, are hereby amended to read as follows:

"(u) Any person desiring to follow the occupation of
8
Journeyman Electrician in the City shall appear before the Clerk
9
and make affidavit that he has a thorough knowledge of electrical
10
construction, that he is more than twenty one (21) years of age,
11
and that he has had three (3) or more years practical electrical
12
experience in the installation of electrical apparatus, wiring
13
and fixtures. He shall also present proof of possession of a
14
valid Journeyman's Electrician Certificate of Qualification

issued by the Idaho State Electrical Board. Upon payment of the

license fee as provided in Paragraph H of Section 5 -3 -4 of this

Code, the Clerk shall issue the applicant a card stating that he

is a Journeyman Electrician. Upon demand, the applicant must show

such card to any officer of the City or to the owner of the pre-
20
mises ubon which he is doing any work."

"(H) The initial fee for Journeyman Electrician's

license shall be Ten Dollars ($10.00) and re- newals thereof shall
23
be Five Dollars ($5.00) and shall become due and payable on the

renewal fee shall be the regular annual fee. No such license may
be renewed more than sixty (60) days after the expiration date of
said license."
Section 4. That Paragraph D of Section 5 -3 -14 of Chapter
I
3 of Title V of the City Code of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"(D) Enclosures: All snitches, cutouts, panels, out-
lets, receptacles and so forth shall be equipped with an approved
box. 11
Section 5. All ordinances, resolutions, orders, or
parts therewith, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, res-
cinded and annulled.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its approval, passage and publication, as
required by law.
