HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-12-22city council minutes6.5 - 0 7 F. par, at which the bidder will purchase said bold s or the lowest rate of interest at which the blhaer will purchase said bonds, and all tenders, bids, or offers to purchase must be addressed to the Mayor and Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, without condition or qualification, and be accompanied by a certified Check on some bank in the State of Idaho, payable to the City Treasurer of said Citv in the smount of five per sent (5%) of amount of bid, or being a cash deposit in like amount, to oe forfeited to the City as liquidati damages should the successful bidder fail or refuse to take up or pay for the ponds within thirty days after the notice by the city of its readiness to deliver said bonds. Unsiccessful bidders will be returned their certified checks. All bids shallbe conditioned upon the approving of a satisfactory legal opinion as to the legality of the said issue; provided, however, that said bonds shall not be sold for less than their face or par value and accrued interest at the time of disposal by the City Treasurer, under the general supervision of the Mayor and Council. The said City will furnish the bonds. Each of the said bonds and each of the coupons attached thereto, shall be duly and regularly issued in form and contents to conformity with Chapter 29, Title 50 of the Idaho Code of the State of Idaho, and all other laws thereunto enabling, or in amendment thereof. That said notice shall be the same as hereby ordered, published at least once a week for a period not less than three consecutive calendar weeks prior to the 3rd day of January, 1956 in The News - Tribune, and the City Clerk is her by authorized and directed to cause said notice to be published as hereinabove mentioned and procure proof of said publication in duplicate in the form of publisher's affidavit, one of which she will preserve as a part of the records and files in her office, and the other of which she sh].7.furnish to the purchaser of said bonds Upon EL011 Call those voting in the affirmative were: Blomquist, Burrell, Cleveland, Shcrb, Eldredge and Bettis. Negative: None. Absent and not voting: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution adopted. The Council met pursuant to call and acknowledgment of notice in the following forms CALL AND ACtNOWLEDGNENT OF NOTICE We, the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho do each hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of said City Council to be held at the Saratoga Hotel in the City of Caldwell, Idaho at the hour of 12:00 o'clock A. M. on the 22nd day of December, 1955, for the transaction of all business in connection with the following object: Discussioj on blanket insurance for the City of Caldwell, which object was submitted to each of the undersigned in writing. B. Holden,. representing Caldwell Association of Insurance h (Agents. city. Mr. Glaisyer and Mr. Holden discussed proposed changes in the blanket insurance carried by the I Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Blomquist, seconded by Councilman Cleveland the City accept t proposed changes as recommended by the Caldwell Association of Insurance Agents. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Councilman Shorb reported that Oscar Hauman an employee on the Irrigation Department had been ill for some time and C. L. Bourland, Foreman had co tacted him regarding the December salary. Moved by Shorb, seconded by Blomquist, December salarybe paid and Mr. Bourland be instructed to report on condition of Mr. Nauman to Council. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The City Engineer was instructed to investigate sick loave for city employes and report back to Council. The matter of tiling irrigation ditch at Caldwell Yemorial Park Hospital was discussed. Moved by Shorb, seconded by Eldredge the City allow the Pioneer Irrigation District $130.00, as City's payment toward the tiling of this ditch. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. There being no further business to come b'efore the Council, it was -roved by Councilman Bettis, seconded by Councilman Shorb that Council, adjourn. Motion carried. Mayor. City Clerk. COUNCIL CRA^.9BERS, JANUARY 4th, 1956, 8:00 P. M. . The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of the City Hall, with the Mayor Jason C, Smith, presiding. Upon Roll Call the following C ouncilmen answered present: L. E. Burrell, Geo Clevelnd, Emile and L. P. Eldredge and J. M. Bettis. The following letter was read from Mrs. Elizabeth Higgs: Caldwell, Idaho. December lb, 1955- TO THE MAYOR ArTD CITY COUNCIL CITY OF CALDWELL, CANYON COUNTY, IDAHO: You are h�rebv notified that on or about the 11th day of September, 1955, at th@ approximate hour of 1:00 o'clock P. M., I was injured by the defective condition of a grating over a storm sewer located along the side of Bus's Market on Ash Street. The grating over the said sotrm sewer had been bent so that it was wide enough to allow my foot to slip through it, whereby I received serious and painful injuries to my left leg. You are further notified that the City was negligent in maintaining said storm sewer
