HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-12-03city council minutes6/ rnereupon the Mayor declared Bill No 16, had passed and the Mayor in open session of the Council duly signed and approved the Bill, and the Clerk duly signed and attested the same which became Ordinance No. 652. The Mayor directed the Clerk to make proper entry of the same and to cause Ordinance No 652, to be published in the Caldwell News - Tribune, the official newspaper of the City of Caldwell, Idaho. Councilman Olesen reported that it would not be advisable for the City to con- struct a sewer in the alley between Denver and Elgin Streets beginning at 4th Street and extending to 7th Street. The Mayor announced the appointment of DAVID D. DAVISON as PATROLMAN on the POLICEIEPARTMENT. Appointment confirmed by motion of McNeill, seconded by Thornock. Motion carried. The Mayor announced the appointment of GENE HAGLE'R as PATROLMAN on the POLICE DEPARTMENT. Appointment confirmed by motion of McNeill, seconded by Thornock. Motion carried. RESOLUTION BY Councilmen McNeill. It was mmoved by Councilman McNeill, seconded by C Olesen that the following resolution be adopted; RESOLVED That the City of Cald,,ell accept the proposal of the Magee -Hale Park-0- Motor Company and the Macnick Company for the purchase and installation of Perk -O- Meters, dated October 5, 1945; and the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized and directed to ex- ecute the acceptance o£ that proposal in the name of and on behalf of the City of Caldwell Idaho; and to acquire under that proposal 255 model "E" Universal Attomatic Perk -O- Meters at a price of $59.50 per meter installed Upon Roll Call it appeared that the motion was unanimously adopted. On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: J. R. Sloop, Leo J. Mason, Pete Olesen, L. E. Burrell and R. H. McNeill. Absent: 0. L. Thornock. A letter was read by the City Clerk from Coroner,Wm Talley regarding the death )f Carl F. Siegmann. Dear Sir: Regarding the findings concerning the inquiring into the death of Patrolman Carl F. 'IeSman. On Nov, 12th, 1945- Prosecuting Att, Milo Axelson, his stenographer / 61- A. A. Moline, Chief of Police Ernest Mason, and B. Carlson and after exam- ining the car and the remains of Carl F. Siegman it wasdeeided that a man - slaughter conviction could not be obtained against the driver of the car therefor no inguest would be held j Yours t ruly, Wm D. Talley. On inquiry it was f6und that Patrolmen Carl F. Siegman came to his death from shock caused by being struck by an auto about 6:30 P. M. on Nov. 10th, 1945 in Caldwell, Idaho and said auto was driven by Wesley Gale, age 23, of Caldwell, Idaho, November 22, 1945 Wm D.T. Cor, of Can. County. The Mayor appointed GERALD F. OVERLIN, as DOG CATCHER, at, a salary of t C per month. Moved by Mason, seconded by Olesen that this ppointment beconfirmed, Motion carried. Councilman Olesen, Chairman of the Water Department presented a list of uncol- ble water accounts and recommended theg be charged o9r the water ledger.
