Council Chambers, City of Caldwell, Monday, December 2, 1912. Council
met in regular session with President of the Council Henry J. Zeh, presiding, and
Councilmen C. Q. Adams, John L. Rardeley, and John Steunenlerg; C. J. Sl;orb, clerk
when the following business was transacted=
minutes.
The minutes of the meetings held in November were read and approved.
Councilmen E. H. Adam, and Fred N. Harrington enter during the reading of the
The report of the sexton was read and, on motion of Bardsley.:_, approved and
ordered filed
The report of the street commissioner was read and, on motion of Harring-
ton, approved and ordered filed.
The report of the treasurer was read and, on motion of Steunenberg, approved
and ordered filed.
The report of. the city engineer was read and, on motion of Adam, approved
and that part relating to crossings taken up by the street committee for consideration
and report.
The report of the chief of police was read and, on motion of Bardsley, ap-
proved and ordered filed.
The report of the city clerk was read and, on motion of Harrington, approved
and ordered filed.
The report of the police ,judge was read and, on motion of Bardaley, approved
and ordered filed.
The reports of t he superintendent of water works for the months of October
and November ware read and, on motion of Steunenberg, approved and ordered filed.
The claims were read and, on motion of Steunenberg, allowed, and warrants
ordered drawn on the several funds, as followee

Voted, on motion of Adam, that the claim of the Central Lumber Co., for
cement be allowed as vouchered by the purchasing officer.
Voted, on motion of Steunenbere, that the claim of R. E. Beatty, in the
sum of $56.03 for sidewalk, be referred to the street committee.
Communication from the earnegie Library Corporation suggesting changes
in the plans of the library building and approving the resolution of the city council
was read.
Voted, on motion of Adams, that the matter of the W. R. Look claim for
excess water charges be referred to the water committee and a reasonable rebate be
allowed an same.
The streefcommittee reported that the road roller was entirely satisfactor
and recommended that the city accept the same. Voted, on motion of Stsunenberg, that
the report of the committee be approved, that the American road roller be accepted; an
the proper officers instructed to sign up the due bills, six in number, And dated
due as follower August 1, 1913
April 1, 19� gA?.70; February 1, 1914, ',;JK3.00; August 1, 1914, 43.00; February 1
1915 f3.00; August 1, 1915, 803. 00; February 1, 1916 X3.00; the same to bear 6%
interest from April I 1913, until paid, title to the machine to remain in Beall &
Company, Portland, Qregon, until the whole amount is paid.
The fire committee reported the Webb auto Chemical as entirely satisfactor
and recommended that the same be accepted. Voted, on motion of Steunenberg, that the
report be approved and that the clerk be instructed to draw a warrant for the amount
of 48,900.00, $50.00 to be retained to pay tertian claims and until all tools, etc.,
arrive, in favor of the Webb Co. of Allentown, Pa., on general and fire department fun
Voted, on motion of Bardsley, that the fire committee be given full power
to insure the auto - chemical. fire apparatus to the amount of 66,500.00.
Voted, on motion of Adams, tbat the fire committee together with the fire
chief take up the matter of procuring suitable locations for extra hose stations, and
provide buildings for additional fire apparatus and road machinery.
Voted, on motion of Adams, that Earl Brooke be employed as night man to
look after the fire engine at 125.00 per month.
Voted, on motion of gteunenberg, that the matter of heating the Sire hall
be referred to the fire and building committee.
