Roberson and Emaline Roberson, in the sum of $5300.00 damages, was read and referred to the City Attorney. I Enlargement of vault referred to UiLchell and i .,. Puller. On motion of Ward, the matter of enlarging the vault in the City clerk's {{{{ office and securing facilities for the records of City Treasurer and Superintendent of Water ;Yorks was referred to Councilman Mitchell and P. it. Miller, with povrer to act. Lights Janyon Hill- referred to Sanberg. The matter of electric street light on top of Canyon Hill was referred to i Councilman Sanberg for information as to cost of same. Plowhead vacates chair to President Ward. At this time Mayor Plowhead was excused from the meeting and President of the Council W. Grant "ard was called to the chair. Adornment. Council Chamber, City of Caldwell, Idaho, Jovomber 12th., 1917. Council meet in regular session, pursuant to adornment, with Mayor B. H. Plowhead presiding, pr:sent, Councilmen Dickens, Amos J. Miller, Mitchell and Sanberg, City Clerk S. Ben Dunlap, when the following business was transacted: I � Extension of Water mains to Union Stock Yards. The matter of extending water mains from corner 22nd Avenue and Blain Street, north on 22nd to Union Stoe)c Yards was referred to City Engineer and Superintendent of idater Works for investigation as to cost, itaport was requested for next meeting. .. Passage Bi1L No. 9 -Fire and building ordinance. Bill No. 9, by the Fire 3ommittee, entitled, "An ordinance establishing fire limits, regulating the construction, alteration, repair and equipment of buildings, the disposal of rubbish, and the storage of gasoline and other products of petroleum and providing for the inspection of buildings and chimneys within the city of Caldwell, Idaho, and prescribing penalties for the violation of this ordinance; and repealing ordinances numbered 12, epproved lurch 27, 1901, Ordinance No. 109, and Ordinance No. 228, approved i December 26, 1912," having been read for the third time on the 22nd day of October, 1917, was presented for final action. Councilman Mitchell moved the passage of Bill No. 9, motion seconded by Councilman Dickens. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted; Ayes- Dic'-ens, Amos J. Miller, Mitchell, Sanberg -h. Nayes -None. Absent -P. ... Miller, "ard -2. So Bill Ido. 9 passed becoming Ordinance No. 287. Street lamps to be installed. It was voted on motion of Sanberg, seconded Mitchell that street lamps be ordered installed at the following named places; Canyon Hill Pump Station. Top of grade on Canyon Hill and cornet 18th and averett Street. 215. Communication Chief of Police. A communication from Chief of Police under date November 12th., 1917, was read and ordered filed. Passage Bill No. 10 -SewLr Ordinance No. 288. Bill No. 10, by the sewer Committee, entitled, "An ordinance confirming and . approving the assessment roll oertified by the committee on streets and sewer committee of 'Local Lateral Sewerage Improvement District No. 5', of Caldwell. Idaho, and the proceedings in connection therewith as corrected by the City Council, and levying an assessment against each of the lots or parcels of land within said district for the payment of said improvements as is by law and the ordinances of said City provided ", was read the third time, and placed on its final passage. On the question shall Bill No. 10 pass ?, the -roll being called, the .vote resulted; Ayes - Dickens, t,mos J. Miller, Mitchell, Sanberg -4. Hayes -None. Absent -F. — hiller, Ward -2. So Bill No. 10 passed becoming Ordinance No. 288. Meeting to consider hospital. The Mayor stated that it was desired by a number of citizens that the council hold a meeting in the near future in order that the matter of a municipal hospital might be presented. It was suggested that - ..a: meeting be held Monday evening` November 19th., 1917, at which time the matter of a hospital would be considered and that it was very much desired by the council that the meeting be well attended by the citizens and that EL full and complete discussion of the subject be submitted to them at that time. Adjornment. No further business appearing before the meeting it was voted on motion of Councilman Sanberg that Council adjorn until Monday evening November 19th., 1917, at 7:30 o'clock P. A. at which time counil would convene in auditorium oll third floor of City Hall and that special consid ®ration would then be given to the matter of a municipal hospital. This being the time fixed by the Council for the discussion of a municipal hospital and a number of citizens being present, at the suggestion of the- Mayor. express- ions and opinions of those present as to the advisability of the City securing a hospital and various locations for a building and pliyna of buildings were rresonted. The following named citizens spoke relative the matter, 1. F. Vance, W. 11. Ewing, Curtis Haydoa. Dr. Gue, F. E. Dark, J. B. Gowen, H. 7 7. Dorman, H. H. Clifford, Dr. Biller, Dr. galey, t7. C. Cowden, W. H. Redway. F. L. Cook, A. E. Gipson and C. Q. Adams. The speakers were unamimous in urging that the matter be presented to the people J l J
