The Roll of the City Council was - called with the following members present: McCluskey, Olesen, Williams, Raymond, Banks, and Bauman. Absent: none. (CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS) The Mayor and City Council resolved itself into a Canvassing Board for t'ne purpose of canvassing the election..returns of the City General Election held November.8, 1977. The results were found to be correct and legally made and were listed as follows: Abstract -of Votes — City General.Election, November 8, 1977. Hopper 197 254 235 96 361 150 1293` Joe Gamboa 183 220 225 95 318 144 1185 It was then MOVED by McCluskey, SECONDED by Raymond that the above listed results be declared official. Roll call vote. Those votiixg yes: McCluskey, Olesen, Williams, Raymond, Banks, and Bauman. Those voting no: none. Absent and not voting: none. MOTION CARRIED It was therefore ordered by the Mayor and the Council of the City of Caldwell that the following named person be deciared.elected to the office of Mayor for a term of four years until the election and qualification of his successor, to -wit: Robert E. Pa.sley, and the following named persons were hereby declared elected to the offices of Councilman for a term of four years until the election and qualification of their successors, to -wit: Al McCluskey, Alta E. Williams, and Kenneth hi. Hopper. Some discussion then followed regarding the election returns and as to whether the Canyon County Election Board was delinquent in getting the returns in as quickly as they should have. Councilman Olesen stated that he would like to propose that the City Council give consideration to stopping relationship with the County and their computer in regard to the election and he would like to have this on the Agenda for the next City Council Meeting. More discussion followed with the City Council making no definite decision. Book 18 Page 385 (DISCUSSION REGARDING CENSUS DATA - STEPHEN LOOP) The Mayor then introduced Mr. Stephen Loop, transportation planner for the Idaho Department of Transportation. Mr. Loop presented to the City Council his ideas regarding the designation of the Nampa - Caldwell area as a Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area by 1980. No action was taken by the City Council; a discussion was held with questions being asked by the Council members. There being no further business, the Meeting was adjourned at 4:45 P.M.
