V Mayor Jason C. Smith presidi t .�`� Upon Roll Call the following ouncilmen answered present: Fran Blomquist, L. E. Burrell, John Myers, Ernest Weick, Dale .Fenrich and J. M. Bettis. The petition requesting the Mayor and Council to pass a Sunday Closing Ordinance was again pre- sented to the Council for their consideration. A number of citizens were present and a discussion was entered into both for and against the proposed ordinance. Thereupon the Mayor informed the delegation that the becond and third reading of Bill No 20 would be heard later in the meeting. The following letter of resignation was presented to the Mayort November 10, 1952. To the Honorable Mayor, City of Caldwell, Caldwell, Idaho I hereby tender my resignation as Deputy City Clerk.effective Saturday, November 15, 1952 due to my husband's transfer from Caldwell to Denver, Colorado. I have appreciated the consideration given my appointment by you, the council and Mrs, o artenbower, and regret that I had no idea I was transient at the time of my appointment. Very truly yours, Edna S. Augustus, Moved by Myers, seconded by Burrell that this resignation be accepted. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Thereupon the Mayor announced the appointment of Alta Williams to be Deputy City Clerk. Moved by Burrell, seconded by Myers that this appointment be confirmed. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The follovd ng letter of resignation was presented to the Mayor and Council: November 10, 1952. To the Honorable Mayor and C ouncil of the City of Caldwell, Idaho Dear Sirst I hereby respectfully submit to you my resignation as Chief of Police in the City of Caldwell to become effective December 1, 1952. My reason for submitting this resignation is due to the fact that I was _ elected Sheriff of Canyon County on November 4, 1952. I would like to take this opportunity to also thank each of you for the splendid cooperation I have received during the time I have been Chief of Police and assure you that at any' time in the future that I may be of some service to the City of Caldwell, I will consider it a privilege to help in any way that you see fit. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Thereupon the Mayor announced the appointment of Keith Judd to be Chief of Police. Moved by Bettis, seconded by Blomquist that this appointment be confirmed. Upon Boll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The Mayor stated this was the time set for the second and third reading of Bill No 30, It was moved by Weick, seconded by Blomquist that the rules requiring that the reading of a Bill on three.aeparate days be suspended and Bill No 30, be read the second time by title and the third time in full section by section and placed on the final passage. The Mayor directed the Clerk to call the Roll on the above motion with the following result: Those voting in the affirmative werer Blomquist, Burrell, Myers,Weick, Fenrich and Bettis. Negative: 'lone. Absent and not voting% None. The Mayor declared the motion had passed by the necessary three - fourths majority and directed the Clerk to read Bill No 30, the second time by title and the third time in full section by section. The Clerk read the Bill as directed. The question being "Shall Bill No 30 pass?' The Mayor directed the Clerk to call the roll on the above question which resulted as follows: Those voting in the affirmative were: None. Negatives Blomquist, Burrell, Myere, Weick, Fenrich and Bettis. Absent and not voting: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared Bill No 30, had not passed. Council Bettis recommended that a plat be made of that area in the north -east corner of the Airport between Airport Road and the National Guard buildings. This matter was referred to the City Engineer. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was mobed by Councilman Bettis, seconded by Councilman Myers that Council adjourn, Motion carried. Mayor. I I I II The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of the City Hall, with Fran Blomquist President of the Council, as Acting Mayor presiding. Absent Mayor Jason C. Smith. Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Fran Blomquist, L. E. Burrell, John Myers, Ernest Weick, Dale Fenrich and J. M. Bettis. Applications for Beer Licenses were mad Prom H. C. Looney, The Tavern, Richard Hancock, the fee accompanying each application. Moved by Burrell, seconded by Myers that these Licenses be granted. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Application for Card License was readfrom Wilson Beer & Lunch, the fee accompanying the Moved by Burrell, seconded by Myers that this License be granted. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Application for Liquor License was read from The Tavern, the fee accompanying the application. Moved by Burrell, seconded by Mayers that this License be granted. Applications for Punch Board Licenses were readfrom Richard Hancock, H. C. Looney, the fee so- companying each application. Moved by Burrell, seconded by Myers that these Licenses be granted. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried.
