Gowen presiding, and Councilmen Elmer A. Clark, M. J. Devers, R. Farrar, Jas. Harris, I. N. Paynter, present; C. J. Short, Clerk, when,he following business was transacted: The claim of Gordon & Adams in the sum of x'.65.00 for setting fountain, laid on the table at a previous meeting, was taken up and a motion made by Clark that the same be allowed on the Road Fund. The roll being called on the motion, the vote re- sulteda Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Harris, Paynter - -5. Nays - -0, Absent -- Gartin. So the claim was allowed. A motion was made by Paynter that the City Clerk was ordered to make the following charges for the use of the City Hall, and to make a settlement with the M. V. Church on this basis, to -wit; From the first day of May to the first day of November of each year, $;'•1.50 per hight; from the first day of November to the Pirst day of May, x',3.00 per night. The roll being; called on the motion, the vote resulted: Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Harris, Paynter - -5. Naya - -0. Absent -- Gartin. So the motion prevailed. A motion was made by Clark that the following claims be allowed and warrants ordered drawn on the several funds as followsa GRNI:RAI. FUNDa R. K. The following resolutions vrera introduced by Clarks "Whereas, deati has removed from our midst C. C. Smith, one of our foremost citizens and business men, and Whereas, in the deaf of C. 0 Smith the City of Caldwell loses a valuable citt ^.en and one who Las faithfully served the city as a member of its city council and as its mayor, therefore, be it Resolved, That we, the Mi} and ciV council of the City or Caldwell, deeply regret this taking from our midst of one of our foremost citi::ens and one who has so faithfully served the cite as councilman and mayor, and that we extend to the bereaved wife and relatives our sincere sympathy in their sad hour of trial, and be it further Resolved, that these resolutions be attended at length upon the minutes of this body and that a copy of the same be sent to the wire of our deceased fellow townsman." and the same were adopted by a unanimous vote of the council. A motion was made by T)evers that the estimate No. 2 of the Caldwell Plumbing 3 Heating Co.,water works contract, in the sum of .,$9,398.64 bellowed on the Water Works Extension Fund. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted: Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Harris, Paynter - -5. Nays - -0, Absent-- Gartin. So the motion prevailed. A motion was made by Farrar that the claim of Jno. J. Plowhead in the sum of $103.00, for services in case o' ;Tones vu. City- and fees, be allowed and warrant dravrn for same on the general fund. So the clai. was allowed. t A motion was made by Farrar that the City Attorney be instructed to take the necessary steps to appeal the case of Jones vs. the City of 8aldwell. The roll being ¶ called on -the motion, the vote resulted: Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Farris, Paynter - -b. i7ays - -0. Absent -- Gartin. So the motion prevailed. The claims of the Mueller Mfg: (:o, in the stun of ; "651,10 for fittings, and Paul F. Caber et Ac Co, in the sum of - 100.00 bronze standard for fountain was laid over. On motion of Paynter, the council adjourned until R'onday, November 14, 1 °10, at 7030 p. m. ell f Nov, 14, 1910. Council met in regular session pursuant to adjournment, wit h Mayor Gowen presiding and Councilmen Clark, Farra; Harris, Paynter present; Shorb, Clerk. Petition of A. Greenlund, at al, praying the Council to extend the fire limits of the cite to include Blocks 89 and 90, Original Town, was read. IWIW! Councilman Devers enters. Voted, on motio6 of Clark, that the attorney prepare an ordinance providing fire limits admitting iron building. Minutes ofthe October meeting; was read, and a motion was made by Clark that the same be approved.as read. The roll being called on tie notion, the vote resulted: Ayes - -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Harris, Paynter--5. Nays - -0. Absent -- Gartin. So the minutes were approved. A motion - ryas made by Farrar that the City Clerl. be allowed $25.00 per month extra for the past two months. A motion was made by Harris that the city .allow free crater to all public schools where there are sanitary drinking fountains. The roll being; called on the motion, the vote resulted: Ayes -- Clark, Revere, Harris, Paynter - -4. Nays -- Farrar. Absent -- Gartin. So the motion prevailed. The Mayor then announced that he vetoed the motion. Whereupon, a motion was made by Clark, that the motion be carried over the Mayor's veto. The roll 'being called, the vote resultede Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Harris, Paynter - -4. Nays -- Farrar, Absent --- Gartin. So the motion prevailed. t
