The Council met in regular session, pursuant to adjourn ant, Thursday, November 4th, 1926, at 4:30 P.M. with mayor holey, presiding, Councilmen, Conley, Dutton, Kimbrough, Mumfor , Mo- Connel, and Wheeler, present. The Mayor and Counoil, proceeded to a further obneideration of the bide for the oonstruction of curbs and gutters in Local Street Imppovement District No.5. It was mov d by Kimbrough, seconded by M0 that the proposal of Calvert, Calvert, and Schroeder f r the construction of curb and gutters in Local Street 4ppovement District No.5 be accepted- and that contract for doing said, work be awarded C alvert, Calvert, and Sohroeder, for the En m of 051, 539.82, and said contract to be prepared by the Standing Committee heretofore, appi anted in oon,unotion with the City Attorney and City Engineer, and to provide among other things for the use of crushes rock and graded material in the oonstrnotion of sass work. Thereupon Cou oilman McConnel presented the following Resolution, and moved its adoptions RESOLUTION NO. 44, A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF CALVERT, CALVERT AND SCHROEDER, FOR THE CONSTRUCTI OF CURBS AND CUTTERS IN LOCAL SVMT IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT 170. 6, OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, C, AWARDING TEE CONTRACT FOR Tg$ CONSTRUCTION OF SAID CURBS AND GUmTERS TO SAID CALVERT, C VERT, AND SCHROEDER; AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF SAID CITY 20 FMCUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE SAID CALVERT, CALVETiT, AND SCHROEDER FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID CURBS AND GU7 MRS. V9MMUS, at a duly convened meeting of the City - ou_oil of the City of Caldwell, adaho, held on the 4th day of October, 1926, the Clerk was authorized and directad to advartis for bids for the construction Of curbs and gutters with Portland Gement concrete, in all thsae streets described in Local Street Improvement District No.6, in said City, in the manner provided for by Ordinance No. 428said bids to be received at the office of said City Clerk until let day Of November , 1926, at 5:00 P.M.; and, WHEREAS, the said City Council havingfixed the let of November, 1926 at 8;00 P.M., as the time for considering said bids; and a motion having been duly passed by the said Council authorizing the opening of a._1 bids on file; and, WHEREAS, Calvert, "alvert, and Schroeder, of Grants Pass, Oregon, have submitted a- id for the construction of said curbs and gutters, for the sum of Fifty one thousand Five Hundr d Thirty None and 82/ 100 Dollers($51, 639.82) and said bid being the lowest and best bid eceived by said Council; therefore Be it Resolved by the Ma - 7or and City Council of the City of Caldwell,Idaho; Section l.That the cash bid of Calvert, Calvert, and Sohroeder, for the. const ruction of those curbs and gutters with Port and Dement Concrete, in all streets described in Local Street Improvement District N0.5, in the City of Caldwell,Idaho, in the mariner as provided for by Ordinance No. 428, for the sum of 051, 539.82 is hereby deealred to be the lowest and best bid for the construction of ourbe and gutters. Section. 2 That the contract for the construction of curbs and gutters with Port and Cement concrete in all thosestreets described in Local Street Improvement District No. b tin said City, in the manner prvided for in Ordinace No. 428, is hereby awardedto Calvert, lvert, o and Schroeder, of Grants Pass,Oregon, for the sum of $51, 539.82, according tothe propos 1 and the approved plans and specifications therefor on file in the office of the City Ole k of said City. Section 3. That the E"ayor and Council of the City of Caldwell,Idaho,enter into a oonl ract with Calvert, "alvert, and Schroeder, of Grants Pass, Oregon, for the doing of the said work and the construction of said curbs and gutters, upon the terms of and under the conditio e of the contract to be prepared by a committee composed of Councilmen 14oCcnnein and Dutt City Attorney M.H.Eustace, and City Engineer, L.M.Porter; said Contract to provide, amo other thi gs, that the specifications shall be construed to protdde for the use of crushed rook in the oo struction of said curbs and gutters, and in accordance with the requirements of the Oity •nglieer and C%Lty Cou:jcil. The motion for the adoption of said resolution duly seconded by ,iheeler. The question being "SHALL TH RESOLUTION PASS? The Uayor directed the Clerk to call the roil which resulted as follows: AYES: CO EY, DUTTON, KIMBROUG$, IM1F ORD, MCCONNEL, AND WM ILER. NAYE9 AM ABSENT: NONE. Whereupon the Mayor decalred the motion carried and the Resolution No. 44 adopted, ind directed the Clerk to record the same upon the journal of the proceedings of the Council, a a part of the minutes of this meeting; and thereupon the Mayor, in open session, of the Ccincil, duly signed and approved said "eaolution. It was voted on motion of Wheeler, seconded by Conley, that the Clerk open the bids for the oonstraciion of the bridge across indian Creek on 9th Avenue mouth, which were as follows to -wit: J.H.Forbes, Oaldwell,"Tdaho. 0899.50 i L.J.Quee , Caldwell,Idsho. $1118.00 It we a voted on motion of Dutton, seconded by Mumford, that ail bids be rejected and that j the City proceed with the oonstru,�tion of the b ridge on ludffian Creek on 9th Avenue South. Councilman Mc�;onnel presented Resolution No. 45 and moved its adoption as foilows to -wit: ^ I RESOLUTION GRANTIIM"PERMISSION TO CENTRAL POULTRY CORPOHATION TO CONSTRUCT A GUi'TER, AND ALTE THE PAVING ON dI%TH AMXB ALONG THE EASTERN END OF BLOCK 74, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO. WHEMAS, Central Poultry Corporation has purchased Lots 'eh {lo) to Twelve(12), inclusive, in R Block Se nty- Four (74) of the original townsite of Oaldwell, amd have made applioation to the City Council for a permit to construct a cement gutter along the curb adjacent to the loading a4lon- platform over the sidewalk adjacent to the building on said promises, 'end have requested permission to alter the paving adjacent to said gutter in order to facilitate the approach of vehicles to said loading platforms all of the same to be along the easterly side of Lot 12, Jo said Block on Sixth Avenue in said Uitt; therefore Be Jb Resolved by the mayor and council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho: Section 1.That the Central Poultry Corporation ism hereby granted permission to 8@894- construct a cement gutter from the sidewalk raise on Main Street, along the easterly side of Lot 12, of B oak 74, of the original ' iownsite of the City of Caldwell, Idaho; provided howver that said gutter slall be twelve inches in width and covered with Cast iron Gutter Plates, said gutter to be oonstau along the curb line of Sixth Avenue adjacent to said premises. 3 ction 2. That Central Poultry Corporation is Irereby granted permission to remove the old paving ii that portion of Sixth Avenue adjacent to the easterly aide of Lot 12, Block 74 original townsite of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, and replace :he same with Portland Cemant, concrete not lees thai six inches in thickness, so as to bring the street level to the curb at the place where it joins said ourb, and to be so constructed that it shall drain the pavement direct to the gutter.
