Council Chambers City of Caldwell, Monday evening, November 4, 1912.
Council met in regular session with President of the Council. H. J. Esh, presiding
and Councilmen E. H. Adam, C. Q. Adams, John L. Bardsley, John Steunenberg, present;
C. J. Shorb, Clerk, when the following business was transacted,
Minutes of the meetings held In October were read and approved.
The report of the Librarian was read and, on motion of Bardsley, approved
and ordered filed.
The report of the Police Judge was read and, on motion of Steunenberg, ap-
proved and ordered filed.
The report of the Treasurer was read and, on motion of Adams, approved and
ordered filed.'
The report of the Street Commissioner was read and, on motion of Bardsley,
approved and ordered filed.
The report of the City Clerk, was read and, on motion of Adams, approved and
ordered filed.
The report of the Chief of Police was read and, on motion of Steunenberg,
approved and ordered filed.
The following claims were read and, on motion of Adams, allowed, and warrants
ordered drawn on the several funds, as followse

Voted, on motion of Adams, that the claim of J. H. McLaughlin in the sum of
$6.50, for erroneous assessment, be allowed on the Sprinkling Fund.
Mayor Griffiths enters and takes the chair.

Claims of B. K. Beatty in the sum of 1610 was read 'and, on motion of Zeh, re-
ferred to the street committee for consideration and report at the next meeting.

Petition of C. W. Cooper, at al, was read, making prayer as followss
"That a large vacant building stands on lots on Blaina Street between Ninth and Tenth
street in this city. That it is known as the old Methodist church, and is now and
has been unoccupied.
The said building Is entirely constructed of wood, and in in a highly in-
flamable condition. T2tat its doors and - windows are permitted and suffered to remain
open and exposed. That there are large openings on the floor, and that it is in reality
a fire trap.
That it is constantly visited at night by various unknown prowlers of both
sexes, and it is and has been for a long time very objectionable to t}ose in the im-
mediate community.
We therefore respectfully request %hat the said building be declared by
this council to be a common nuisance and that its abatement be erdered."
And it was voted, on motion of Zeh, that the same be referred to the fire
and building committee and city attorney for consideration and report.
The Cemetery committee made report that citizens have proposed to assist in
improving tte cemetery grounds and it was suggested that other persons may desire to
assist, and that a day be set apart for improving the cemetery, It was voted, on
motion of Adam, that the report be approved and the committee instructed to proceed.
The Mayor made verbal report of hie attendance upon tie meetings of the
Pacific Northwest Municipal association at Spokane and of the work done there,
recommended that a state association for Idaho be organized.
Voted, on motion of Adam, that Council adjourn until Monday, November 11,
1912, at 7130 p.m.
