NOVEMBER 2nd., 1942,
8:00 P.M.
The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the "Council Room of the
City Rall with the Yayor E. E. McCluskey presiding.
On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present:Thurlow Bryant, Wilbur
Daken, r. E. Newman, Floyd Blunt and C. 0. McDopnel. Absent; E. E. Fresher.
The Minutes of October 2nd, were rend and approved as read.
Moved by Dakan, seconded by McDannel that the City Attorney be authorized to
prepare a contract between the City of Caldwell and Ed L. Caughran for the hauling of
garbage. Motion c
The Mayor informed the Council this w as the time set for opening of bids for
15,000 gallons of gasoline. The Clerk informed the Mayor and Council there was one bid on
file. This bid was opened and r ^ad as follows:

Moved by Bryant, seconded by Daken that this bdd be accepted. Motion carried.
Representatives of Idaho Egg Producers were present and stated to the C o , 7nci1
they contemplated construction of a mill in connection with the operation of their business
to be erected on Block 95, Original and Golden -ate Addition to Caldwell. That this ex-
pansion would require the opening of Third Avenue in order to provide proper and conlnentent
means of ingress and egress to and from said property and they asked the Council to go on
record favoring and agreeinL to improve for ',traffic Third Avenue from Clain to Albany
Street:
Upon motion of Councilman Nowmgn, seconded by " ouncilman McD it was unan-
imously voted that this Council is on record asfavoring the opening of Third Avenue as re-
quested and the City Attorney was requested to notify the Oregon Short Line Railroad Compan
of the determination and desire of the Council to open said Avenue, and r equest its co-
operation in necessary construction of that part of said Avenue occupied by said Railroad
Company's Right of 'day.
The Bills for October were read and on motion by Daken, seconded by Bryant that
these bills be allowed and Warrants be ordered drawn for the various amounts all of which
had been approved by the Chairman of the Finance Committee. Motion carried.
