ordinance would be unceseary as the mayor had the power to appoint peace officers.
The Mayor then appointed Councilmen Ackley. Adams, Bonne. Harrington, Parker, and
Steunenberg, and Street Commissioner Campbell, as polio& to serve without pay.
It was voted on motion of Adams that the Water Commissioner be instructed
to extend the water mains on main street to 12th Avenue.
Mr.Campbell stated that the County Commissioners had asked permission to
use the Cities road roller and grader on some of the roads leading into the city.
It was voted on motion of Ackley that the matter be referred to the street comm-
-I asioner with power to act.
It was voted on motion of Harrington that Council adjorn until Monday
evening October 20th, 1913 at 6 P.M.

Council meet in regular session pursuant to ad,jornment with Mayor C.H.Turner
presiding ,Councilmen Adams ,Boone ,Harrington and Steunenberg present,S.Ben Dunlap
clerk,when the following business was transacted.
Mr.Curtis Haydon,president of the library board,of the City of Caldwell, Idaho,
appeared in behalf of the said board.Mr.Haydon stated that the literary board had
finally secured the promise of the Carnegie Corporation,of New York City, of a don-
ation of $12,500.00,for the purpose of erecting a library here.He submitted plans
and specifications of the proposed new library building,which had been approved by
the Carnegie Corporation. Tie alsu submitted the contract between Williams and Mun-
ford and the library board for the erection of the Bald bull ding, together with the
bond of the said Williams and Munford.Said bond being in favor of the library board
and bonding Williams and Munford as principals and the National Surety Company as
surety in the sum of 04,740.00,and conditioned on the faithful performance by the
said principal e,Wi Ili ams and Munford,of their contract in erecting the library buildin .
It was voted,on motion of Harrington,that the City Counail approve and ratify
the plans and specifications of the proposed library building,together with the bond
of the Contractors,and the contract between the said contractors and the library
boardiand that the City Council on behalf of the Citizens of Caldwell, extend to the
members of the library board,assurance of their sincere appreciation for the efforts
of the said board in securing the funds for the erection of the library.
it was voted,on motion of Parker,that the City Olerk be Instructed to release
the County Tax Collector from collecting the special Sewer assessment levied on lots
16 to 24 inclusive,in block 33 Dormans addition,belonging to W.L.Bteunenburg.yr
3teunenberg }paving in his procession a receipt from the City of Caldwell,dated
December 20th., 1910 payment in full of the special sewer assessment levied on the
said property.
The following Fire Insurance Poll cias,Insuring the City Hall,tbree years from
October 8th.,1913 were received.

It was voted,on motion of Boone,that the policies be accepted and ordered placed
on file.
It was voted,on motion of Boone,that Council adorn untill Monday evening
3rd.,1913,at 8 o'clock p.m.
