Council met in regular session pursuant to adjournment with Mayor Griffithe, presiding, and Councilmen Adam, Adams, Bardsley, Steunenberg, Zeh, present; 8horb, Clerk. Bide for furnishing the City coal in car load lots, f. o. b. Caldwell, were opened as follows: Wescott Transfer Co., Utah Lump, $$6.75 per ton; Mine run, 06.35 per ton, mine weights to govern. Caldwell Lumber Co., Hiawatha, run of mine, railroad weights, $5.85 per ton. Gates Lumber Co. Kemmerer No. 5 lump, $'p7.60 per ton, actual weight; Mine run, and mine weights, $6:25 per ton; Rock Springs lump, mine weights, 47.25 per ton. Caldwell Ice & Coal Storage Co., Aberdeen lump, 47.10 mine run, $6.50 per ton. Central Lumber & Fuel qo „ Castle Valley lump, $6.90, mine run, $6.40 per ton. Voted on motion of.Zeh, that the bids be referred to the building committee with authority to accept the lowest and beat bid. Voted, on motion of Zeh, that it is the sense of the city council that Mayor Walter Griffiths represent this body at the meeting of the Pacific Northwest Municipal- ities at Walla Walla, Washington October 24- E5,.1912. Bill No. 31, by Steunenberg, entitled, "An Ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 817, an.ordinance granting to the Oregon Short Line Railway Co., a franchise to construct and maintain a railroad track for switching and other purposes on and over a certain al- ley in the City of Caldwell, Idaho which ordinance was passed by the City Council of the City of Caldwell on the 10th day of July, 1912, and approved by the Mayor of said city on the 15th day of July, 1912," was read the first time. A motion was made by Adams, that the rules be suspended and the readings on three separate days be dispensed with, and that Bill No. 31 be read the second time by title and the third time in full and placed on its final passage. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted: Ayes- Adam, Adage, Bardsley, Steunenberg, Zeh -5. Nays- None. Absent- Walker. So the motion prevailed. Bill No. 31 read second time by title. Bill No. 31 read third time in full and placed on its final passage. On the question, Shall Bill No. 31 pass? the rill being called, the vote resulted: Ayes- Adam, Adams, Bardsley, Steunenberg, Zeh -5. Nays- None. Absent Walker. So Bill No. 31 passed, becomming Ordinance No. 226. The water works committee, reported that after careful consideration, it re- commended the extension of the water works system upon Arlington addition as set forth in the City Engineer's proportion No. 1. It was, therefore, voted, on motion, of 9teunenberg, that the report of the water work committee be accepted and approved, and referred to the committee with authority to pr - ce =d at once with the extension, after a sufficient number of the residents of that section of the city signed up for water. Voted, on motion of Zeh, that the proposal of the Idaho Railway, Light & Power Company to enter upon a long time contract with the City for street lighting be rejected, and that the Co. proceed to install a lighting system at once in accordance l with the agreement formally entered,between the. city and company last Ausust, which was aacmding to the terms and agreements precedent to the granting of the franchise to JJJ that company, and the city clerk is hereby instructed to notify the company at once of the council's action.
