of street bordering our farmland, I
According to the information I have, the protest was overruled and the improvements are
to take place. I as wondering why the council took the stand that they could not pave
along the farm ground without putting in curbing also, and then I noticed that far inside
the city limits between Ray Ave, and Oregon Ave. they did pave without curbing :zither side
of the road. This doesn't seem quite _onsistent to me. I am afraid we will not be able Yc
cope wit'n the added expense placed upon us.
The expense item is a great item and the benefit to the school will be absolutely nil be-
cause should we put homes along the street, the curbing-w5iild be of no value as it would
all have to be br - ken up aa`n and r edone for driveways and sidewalks. I am sure you can `
see our problem. I
Will the council permit us to do our own curbing along that street, that will save us
some money if we do our own work, for we have capable men in our employment.
I wo>>ld appreciate an answer to the above question.
Sincerely,
/s/ R. M. Kurtz
' The Mayor instructed the Clerk to write Mr. Kurtz and advise him the City would give permission

J
Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
Will you please consider my request that the City Clerk pay Library bills
up to the amount of $50.00 without my having to g't signed vouchers from the
publishers, jobbers, or supply hcusesl
Although most of the books purchased will come from one or two jobbers, we
frequently find it necessary to order one or two books at a time directfrom
a publisher and whenever that is dory there seems tobe rrreat inconvenience to
them in getting the voucher signed and back to us in time to include it with
the monthly bills. I have rquested a signed voucher from Harpers three times,
but only receive a reminder that the bill for $2.00 is long past due.
May I sign the voucher and accompany it with the usual bill?
Respectfully,
/q/ Nancy Jarvis
