Bids for a new car for the engineering department were presented by Burns Chevrolet and Hal
Johnson Inc..
These bids were referred to the City Engineer with power to act.
Moved by Shorb, seconded by Burrell the damage claim filed against the City of Caldwell by Thelma
Evans be denied and the Clerk notify Dale 0. Morgan, Boise, Idaho of this decision.
Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen voted id the affirmative: Blomquist, Burrell, Cleveland,
Shorb, Eldredge and Bettis. Negative: None. Absent and not voting: None.
The Mayor declared the motion carried.
The opening of the street parrcling the Methodist Ditch between AestiRelmont and West Elgin was
requested by the Caldwell Postmaster.
This matter was referred to the City Engineer.
The handling of city garbage was discussed but no action was taken at this time.
Fire Chief Paddock recommended the city ordinance regarding the storage of gasoline be enforced.
this was referred to the City Engineer and Building Inspector.
Council Blomquist informed the Council Con Schell had requested permission to place a bench for
customers in front of his place of business.
The Mayor stated this was in conflict with the City Ordinance.
The Mayor appointed Councilman Bettis and the City Engineer to investigate the drainage on Grant
Street between Eighteenth Avenue and Nineteenth Avenue.
An..application for a building permit was presnted to the Mayor and Council by Williams Animal Hosl
This was referred to the Zonung Board of Adjustment

The Mayor informed the gentlemen plats would have to be prepared and presented to the Council
for study before any action could be taken.
There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Councilman Bettis,
seconded by Councilman Shorb that Council adjourn. Motion carried.

The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of the City Hall, with
the President of the Council Fran Blomquist, as Acting Mayor, presiding.
Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Fran Blomquist, L.,E. Burrell, Geo ,
Cleveland, Emile Shorb, L. P. Eldredge and J. M. Bettis.

Mrs. Homer Hooban, representing the Forward Club, was present and informed the Mayor and Council/
would donate $1000.00, toward enlarging the Golf Club House, provided, an room could be added for
the use of several women +s clubs.
The Mayor recommended Clubs interested in the enlargement of the Golf' Club House contact the Golf
Association and present plans to the Council for study.
Bids on_a.roller for the Road Department were presented by Emgineering Sales Service, Sawtooth Cc
Intermountain Equipment c ompany, Western Equipment C ompany and Southern Idaho Equipment domparq.
ThesIa bids were referred to Councilman Bettis and the City Engineer for study.
Moved by Eldredge, seconded by Burrell the City Engineer apd Councilman Bettis be authorized to
purchase a Roller.
Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried.

Applications for Pool Room Licenses were seadfrom Waldorf Cigar Store, Art and Roy's Sport Shop
and Brink's Inc., the fee accompany each application.
Moved by Burrell, seconded by Shorb that these Licenses b e granted.
Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried.
Applications for Card Licenses were read from The Sport Shop and Waldorf Cigar Store, the fee
accompanying each application.

The City Engineer presented the Assessment. Rolls of Local Improvements Nos. 24, 25 26, 27, 28, 29,
30, 31, 32 349 35 and 36, to the Mayor aid Council.
Thereupon the following Resolution was presented to the Mayor and Council by Councilman Bettie,
who moved the adoption thereof, which motion was duly seconded by Councilman Eldredge.

GIVE NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING AND CONSIDERING OBJECTIONS TO THE SAID ASSESSMENT ROLLS:
FIRING THE TIME FOR HEARING AND CONSIDERING SAID OBJECTIONS AND PRESCRIBING THE FORM OF NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the assessment rolls of Local Improvement Districts Nos 24, 25, 26, 27 , 28, 29, 30, 31,
Canyon County, Idaho, have been completed in compliance with
32, 34, 35 and 36 for the City of Caldwell,
the provisions of the laws of the State of Idaho, in such cases made and provided, and the ordinances of the
said City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, said assessment rolls having been prepared and made out by the
committee on sewers, together with the City Engineer, containing the number of assessment, the name of the
owner if known, and if not known that the name is unknown, a description of each tract assessed and the
total amount of the assessment, and said assessment rolls having been so prepared were certified to the
Council of the'City of Caldwell by the committee on sewers and the City Engineer.
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Mayor and Council of the City of Caldwell, Idahoa
Section 1. That the assessment rolls of Local Improvement Districts Nos. 24,25 28 29001
31, 32, 343 35 and 36 for the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, be, and the same are, hereby accepted
and placed on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho. That
�I the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give due and legal notice, in compliance with the
provisions of law, to the owner or owners of property which is assessed in said assessment rolls, whether
named or not named, by publication in three successive issues in The News - Tribune, a, daily newspaper printed
and published in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, and the official newspaper of the City of Caldwell. Said
notice shall state that the said property owners meyy file, within ten days from the first publication of
said notice of time to file objections to said assessment rolls,objections to said assessment rolls and
that objections will be considered by the Mayor and Council on the 24th day of October, 1955, at 6100
o'clock P. M.
Section 2. That said notice shall be in.substantially the following form, to vita

32, 34, 36 and 36 FOR THE CITY OF CALDWM, DANYON COUNTY, IDAHO, BY THE CITY CLERK AND OF THE TIME AND
PLACE FOR FILING PROTESTS TO SUCH ASSESSMENT ROLLS AND OF THE TIME SET FOR HEARING PROTESTS BY THE CITY
COUNCIL.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN That the assessment rolls of Local Improvement Districts Nos. 24, 25, 26,
27 28, 29, 30, 313 32, 34, 35 and 36 the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, are. new on file in
ay office in the City Hall of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, and that the same were filed at
5:00 o'clock P. M., on the 4th day of October, 19559 and that the City Council will meet on the 24th day
of October, 1955, at 8100 o'clock P. M. at the City Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City of
Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, to hear and consider objections to said assessment rolls by the party or
parties aggrieved by such assessments. The owner or owners of any property which is assessed in said
asaessment rolls whether named or not in such assessment rolls may, within ten days from - the first pub-
lication of this notice, file his objections in writing to said assessment or to any part thereof which

which said objections must be definite and specific as to the property or piece of property in said assess-
ment rolls to which objection is made as well as the specific ground for such objection. The assessment
rolls will be open for inspection at the office of the City Clerk of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County,
Idaho, on Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 9 :00 o'clock A. M. and 5:00 o'clock P. M. and on
Saturdays between the hours of 9:00 o'clock A. M. and 12:00 o'clock noon•

The City Clark was instructed to notify Meek & Miller the claim filed against the City of Caldwell
F Leslie. L. Ford be denied.
.A petition was presented to the Mayor and Council by property owners petitioning the creation of
Local Improvement Listrict for the purpose of constructing curb and gutters and paving from the inter-
action of College Avenue and Linden Street along College Avenue to the intersection of College Avenue
Poplar .
This petition was referred to the City Engineer.
Request for curb cut was presented by Globe Seed CompadYy.
This request wasaei to tue City Engineer and Councilman Bettis with power to act.
Moved by Cleveland, seconded by Burrell reciue9t to construct private hangars near the National
nerd Building be denied.
Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried.

evolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION

RESOLUTION CREATING THE OFFICE OF ENGINEERING ASSISTANT AND ESTABLISHING TBE SALARY THEREFOR.
BE IT'RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho:
That as of September 1, 1955 there is hereby created the office of Engineering Assistant whose
duties shallbe to assist the City Engineer in his vmrk for the City of Caldwell, and that the salary for
said office shall be the aum of $338.75.
.Upon Roll Call those voting in the affirmative were: Blomquist, Burrell, Cleveland, %orb,
Eldredge and Bettie. Negative: None. Absent and not voting: Nonee
.Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution adopted.
There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Councilman Bettis,
