Gowen presiding, and Councilmen E. A. Clark, M. J. Devers, R. Farrar, J. G. Gartin, and I. N. Paynter, present; C. J. Shorb, Clerk, when the following business was transacteda The following claims were read and on rpotion of Farrar, the same were allowed, except claims of officers, which claims were all to be out to the amount of extra, and the claim of the Caldwell Power Company which claim was cut in the sum of $15.00, and that warrants be ordered drawn on the several funds as followsa ROAD FUNDa L. So the motion prevailed. to Q A motion was made by Farrar that the salary claim of C. M. Ainsworth for assisting engineer be cut to ?3.00 a day. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted= Ayes -- Clark, Farrar - -2. Nays-- Dveres, Gartin, Paynter - -3. Absent:-- Harris. So the motion was lost. A motion was made by Clark that beginning October 1, 1910, the salaries of the assistants in the City Engineer's office shall not exceed ,x;3.00 per day. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted: Ayes-- Clarll, Devers, Farrar, Gartin - -4. Naya -- Paynter. Absent -- Harris. So the motion prevailed, Claim of Gordon & Adams in the sum of 465.00 for setting fountain, laid over, as were also claims of Grinmett & Adams fur auto hire in the Hum of $1,50 and Calkins & Lesley in the sum of 058.00, for crossings. Amended assessment rolls for Sewer District No. 3, and the assessment rolls ror Local Lateral Districts Nos. 3 and 4, having been filed pith the City Clerk, the Council set Monday, October 31, 1910, as the day for hearing and considering protests, If any there be, against the said assessment rolls. a T),e claim of the Warren Construction Cvmj in the s of 4,670.75 and 8751.17 for extra labor and material, was on motion of Cl�rl:, allowed, and a warrant was ordered drawn in favor of said company in the sour, of x,3,421.92 in cash, and $6,000.00 in Special Assessment Improvement Bonds. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resultede Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Cartin, Payrntar- -5. Nays - -0, Absent -- Harris. So tle aotior prevailed. A motion was r.ade by Paynter that we accept the paving: of the Warren Con- struction Co. and alloar the flnul estimate. -le roll being called on the mo'lon, the vote resulted: Ayes -- Clark„ Devers, Farrar, Gartin, Paynter - -5. Devera, as .follows, was read: "I, the undersigned, am about to erect one or more dwelling houses on Lots 13, 14, 15, 16, Block 77, Devera, Addition to the City of Caldwell, Idaho, and desire to avail myself of adequate and reasonable sewer facilities for said premises. I desire to nonduct the sewerage from the premises above described across Freeport street, across Lot 9 in Block 78, severs Addition, and connect with the sewer in the alley in Block 78. If permission is granted by your honorable body -to cross said street and to make said connection as above stated 1 hereby agree to construct add sewer under the supervision of the city engineer without expense to the City of Caldwell, to bear my proportion of the expense incident to the construction of the main sewer, and to grant to the said City of Caldwell an easement to enter upon the property described herein at any time for the purpose of examining and repairing said sewer as to said city may seem necessary. I further agree to waive all notices, ordinances, ate. in regard to the co-netruction of said sewer as the proherty over which the same is constructed and in which in anlf event would bear the expense of said construction belongs to me, and on the cosapletion of said sever to t*Lru t.. • ca.nn ovar to naid city free of all incumbranees etc." And the same was allowed on motion of Gartin. A motion was made by Clark that 115,000 be taken from the Water Works Extension Fund and placed in tie Water Works Fund. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted: Ayes -- Clark, Devera, Farrar, Gartin, Paynter - -5. Nays - -0. Absent -- Harris. So the motion prevailed. Voted, on rno'i n of Pnynter•, that the College of Idaho be given until the 20th inst, to put in water meters and make proper connections to the city water works system, and that this same inotion b- . to upily to 11. D. Blatehley. On motion of Gartin, Council adjourned until Monday evening, October lo, 1910, at 7 :30 P. M. Octcber 10, 1910. Council m in regular session pursuant to adjournment with Kayor Govren presiding, and Councilmen Clark, Farrar, Farris, Paynter, present; Shorb, Clerk. The minutes of the meetings held September were read and on motion of Harris approved. Reports of Chia£ of Police, Librarian, Sexton, City Clerk, Sanitary Inspector, Superintendent of !eater Works, and Treasurer were read and approved on motion of Clark. Devers _rters during AZ M.
