Upon vote, the motion carried. Renewal of Fool and Card License approved The application for a Pool and Card License of Edward A. Clgycomb d/b /a Western Beer & Lunch at 707 Main Street was presented to the Council for their consideration. It was moved by Councilman McCloskey, seconded by Councilman Backs, to approve the Pool and Card License and to issue a license to Western Baer & Lunch, Upon vote, the motion carried. Applications for Bartender Permits approved Applications for Bartender Permits were than presented for the consideration of the Council from Rase Lee Brower, Flora L. Aguirre, David L. Malson, William R. Cookson, Harold Oliveira, Celesta Lee Olsen, Nieves Morin, Jr. and Peter Jay Hoover. Each application had been Approved by the Chief of Police and was accompanied by a receipt from the Clerk for the required fee. It was moved by Councilman McCloskey, seconded by Councilman Carter, that the applications for Bar- tender Permits be approved and the permit's issued. Upon vote, the motion carried. Bills - Mid September _ It was moved by Councilman Banks, seconded by Counc Dakar, that the warrants for claims be approved as per list and filed in the City Clark's office. Upon returning to the meeting the City Engine announced that there had been an error in the J. Ross Construction Co. 'e extension of item 4, and that it should be corrected to read $2,881.20 rather than $2,327.50, and in the ease bid there had been an error in item ll, and it should he corrected to read $2, 781.00 rathern than $2,767.50 making the total $53,394.80. He added that there had been an error in the extension of item 8 in the bid submitted by A & J Construction and shaald be corrected to read $570.24 rath than $666.24 making the total $40,779.76. Mr. Lewis stated that all companies had their bid bond in the amount of 5$ of the bid and executed the proposal form. Councilman NoCdwakey moved, Councilman Banks,ssaondad; that the bid in the amount of $40,779.76 he awarded to A & J Construction On. Upon vote, the motion carried. Bids for sewer main extension, South Ohio Avenue - Project No. 1 Mayor Carpenter then asked Mr. Lewis to present the bids for the sewer main extension, south Chic Avenue, Project No. 1. Upon returning to the meeting, the City Engineer announced that there had been an error in the ex- tension of item No. 1 of the bid submitted by Sommer Construction Co., and that it should be corrected to read $1,756.15 rather than $1,617.10 as stated on the bid making the total bid $4,538.30. It was moved by Councilman Dakan, seconded by Councilman Carter, to award the low bid of $4,538.30 to Sommer Construction Co. Upon vote, the motion carried. Swimming pool plan approved Mayor Carpenter then presented Mr. Roger Bissell who stated that the plans of the swimming pool were almost completed, and it was time to set the date for advertising for bids, adding that the date of advertising for the bid had boon tentatively set for the 16th of October; the opening of the bids tentativel, set for November 7, and tentative completion date of the pool was set for May 15. Mr. Bissell stated that because the traffic pattern had been bad, it was not feasible to make sep- arate staff dressing roans as had been requested, adding that the present plan did have a manager's office, separate storage and a first aid rue®. Mr. Bissell stated that there had been a request for doorways from the locker area to each of the mane and women's dressing rooms, but because of the need for wall space, it a" not be done. 407 Mr. Bissell stated that there had been a request to separate the junior area of the pool from the senior area. After investigation, the beet possible way though not completely adequate, was to provide the safety rope dividing the two areas. Upon question from Councilman Hanks, Mr. Bissell stated that the plans could be altered to provide windows in the first aid room for ventilation. Mr. Hissoll stated that if any other recommendations came in within the nest few days they would b incorporated into the plans. In response to Councilman Banks, Mr. Bissell stated that the bleachers would be in the same place as before with the possible addition of more in an area which he pointed out at the top of the plane. Mrs. Lodge inquired if it was possible to stick with the May 15 completion date. Mr. Hiasel atata that It had been analysed adding that one factor was if the winter sees= would be conductive to building. He stated that there had been a limited damage clause put into the legal documents which said if it was not completed on May 15, the contractor world pay $150.00 a day, adding that this could be adjusted any way the Council would want to do it. Councilman Banks moved, seconded by Councilman Dakan, to accept the plans subject to any needed adjustments in the nest few days; advertise for bids on October 161 open the bids November 7, and set the tentative date of completion May 15. Upon vote the motion carried. Hearing an proposed mobile homy court Mayor Carpenter informed the Council that the hearing of the appeal from the decisions by the Boar of Adjustment on the proposed mobile home court would be heard by the Council an October 2 1972. Mayor 4 v City C1er COUNCIL CHAMBERS October 2, 1972 8: 00 P.M. The regular monthly meeting of the City Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall with Mayor Charles W. Carpenter presiding. Upon Holt Call, the following Councilmen answered present: Alfred H. McCluakey, Charles C. Hanks, James H. Dakan, and Lester E. Carter. Absent: Joe Oamboa. Baseball trophy - Olen Hollis Mayor Carpenter stated that first he would like to present Olen Hollis and his baseball team. Mr. Hollis stated that in behalf of the Little League baseball team he would lily: to present their trophy to Wx City. He added that it was the first time in lh years that the City had wen a championship. He then had his players stand up and introduce themselves. Mayor Carpenter stated that their activity in the baseball program was appreciated and accepted the trophy on behalf ofthe Cit, adding that it would be placed on permanent display in the City Hall Variance approved - Mr. Oates Mayor Carpenter then acknowledged Hnpert Oates who resides at 2609 North Montana and requested a variance to build a horse shelter an the adjacent lot. He stated that the houses in this area were placed 51 feet back from the road, but because of the terrain, he =a requesting to build the horse shelter with a set of 30 feet. In response to Councilman Carter, Mr. Oates allted that he had canvassed the neighborhood and there t been no objections, and all had signed a simple petition which he had circulated. In response to question from Councilman Banks, Mr. Oates stated that Bob Haahnell had property acent to his property to the north. He added that he had contacted Mr. Bushnell, but as yet had not gott ;ether with him, adding that he had not had any negative response from Mr. Bushnell. Mr. Banks stated that had had a can from Mr. Busbnall who said he objected to the b uilding of the horse shelter. In response to Councilman Beaks, Mr. Oates said he could use a 50 foot set back and not need the dance, but it would mean that he would have to mate a seven foot foundation in the back, adding that the
