Council most An regular session pursuant to adjornment,with President of the Council ,W.E.Parker presiding.and Coupcilmen.Ackley,Adams,and Boone present.S.Ben Dunlap,Clerk,when the following business was transacted. The minutes of the sessions hold -in August,1913 were read and on motion of Adams approved. Mayor C.H.Turner arrived during the reading of the minutes and took the presiding officers chair. MY Henry Griffeths appeared for the Golden Gate Company,and stated that said oompany was draining the Golden Gate Addition,and that they had spent about $1,000.00 on the proposition.He stated that the City and Pioneer Irrigation District each had quite a little drainage work that should be done in said addition,and that the Pioneer people had agreed to do $800,00 worth of drainage work at this time,and he asked that the City donate a like amount.The Street Commissioner stated that would have to do some drainage work in said addition soon,and that this would be an opportune time to do some. It was voted,on motion of Ackley,that the City spend not to exceed $800.00 for the purpose of helping drain the project. Mr.McOee took up the matter of a city map,whieh he stated was badly needed as the City,had no maps at this time.He offered to 'sell the City a map which he had made,for Q1g0.00.and he stated that it would not cost to exceed $20.00 to bring - said map up.to date.It was voted,on motion of Ackley.that the Mayor appoint a committee of three to investigate the matter and that they be given power to act. The Mayor appointed Boone,Adame,and Parker, Mr.W.A.3tona appeared end stated that the City had included in its annual appropriation bill the sum flue on the ,judgement in the case of F.C.and Rlizabeth Jones ve the City of Caldwall,and he asked that warrants be issued in settlement of said claim.Mr.Alfred Stone,City Attorney,stated that in hie opinion we should satisfy the judgement at this time.It was voted.on motion of Adams that the City Clerk be instructed and authorized to issue three warranta,two each for $1,200.00 and one for 8577.00,total amount $2,977.00,in payment of said judgement, costs, and interests accrued to date. The monthly reports of the following officers for the month of Auguet,1913 were read and on motion of Boone accepted and ordered placed on fileeLibrarian, Se=on,Police Judge,Chief of Police.Superintendamt of Street e, Sup erintendant of Water Worka,City engineer and City Clerk. Bill Ho.3,by Adams,entitled, "An ordinance requiring that all photographers who have no established place of business in the City and all photographers whose location here shall be temporary merely and who make a business of going from town to town shall p,ay a license" was read for the first time. A communication was read from Wendell Rlee,night man for the fire department: petitioning the council to raise his salary from $25.00 to 050.00 per month. Parker stated he had been informed,different wages were paid in some of the dbpartments ror the same work,and that he thought a Comm ittee should be appointed to investigate the matter. It was voted.on motion of Boone,that the Mayor appoint a committee of five,, including the Water Commissioner and Street Commiasioner,to investigate the matter of wages paid in the different City departments,and if said committee thought advisable tc arrange a new schedule of wages.Said Committee also to investigate the request of Wendell Rice for a raise of salary.The Mayor appointed Ackley,Boone, end Parker. It was voted on motion of Boone.that the water commissioner be instructed to build an addition on the shed in the City yards for the purpose of storing the Citie's fire hose and carte. t L I :L i II' The water Commissioner reported that he had received an application for City water to be installed on Denver Street,in Golden Gate addition,and that it would be necessary to expend about $200.00 for an extension if said application were accepted.It was decided that as there was only one application on file at this time ',for water in this part of the,City,that the expense of making the extention would not be ,Justified by the revenue received, Mr.Sovereign,engineer of the auto fire apparatua,stated that there should be an extra inner tube for use an the- auto in case of emergency.It wee voted,on motion of Boone,that the engineer be instructed to purchase an inner tube for the auto. Mr.McGee,assistant City Engineer,stated that Mr.J.H.Forbee offered to pay one half the cost of a cement crossing,to be constructed on 14th and Cleveland streete,if the City would pay the balance of the c6st.It was voted,on motion of Parker,that the offer be accepted and that the crosswalk be ordered in. It was voted,on motion of Parker,that a cement crosswalk be ordered in on the corner of 10th and Main streets. Adams reported for the committee,appointed to investigate the advisability of the City signing the petition to have Canyon Hill formed into an irrigation distriet,that said committee thought the City could use the irrigation water on about twenty acres of the Cemetery plot to advantage.It was voted,on motion of Adameg that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized and instructed to sign the petition on behalf of the city. It was voted,on motion of Boone,that council ad,Jorn untill Monday evening September 15th,at B o'clock p.m.��
